No, you explained it right, I just don't see how it works. I can't get a grasp around it, but then again I don't know much about them.

well the shackle itself leans back as the suspension bounces, and helps for accommodate travel of the leaf springs as they flatten out with more weight.

Different length shackles still perform the same task, but are either a little sloppier (longer) or a little stiffer (shorter)

Ahh I get it now. i thought the longer the shackle itself, the higher the leaf springs would be, in hindsight making the truck taller.

longer the shackle, the lower the truck with the way our trucks are setup. longer shackle puts the leafs higher up under the truck, which means the truck sits down over the suspension further, which is lowering the truck.

That red on your truck looks awesome. I prefer that color over silver, but it's a shame at what happened. That valence came out great

What do you guys think about these wheels on my truck? I would like an 18" or 20" and I am leaning towards the 18" for ride quality and to prevent loss in mpg. I also think they look pretty darn sharp. Here's a link to another members truck with them.

and thanks, i definitely prefer silver over red, but the red is definitely growing on me
