If you knew even the basics of economics and agriculture you would realize that ethanol is the biggest mistake ever. You think things are bad now wait till the price of a carton of milk or a loaf of bread starts multiplying. And the current situation of the dollar is not tied to the war alone. Have you noticed the huge real estate/credit collapse? All that is really happening now with the US dollar is the economy is entering the "bust" part of the cycle, when it passes the economy will "boom" again till it goes full circle.

Where are you going to buy that gas? Canada?
If you buy it in the US the $600 is going back into the US economy. Duh!

Got news for ya, people. If the Dems get back in - either Billary or Obama - the price of gas is going to INCREASE. Why? Tax increases, of course!

Something you need to remember - gasoline taxes are CENTS per GALLON, not a percentage of the price like sales taxes..........so as the price of gas goes up and the tax rate stays the same, the percentage keeps dropping, and with inflation, net revenue to the government keeps dropping too. You can bet your *** the Dems are going to pick up on that and use that to justify a healthy gas tax increase.

No doubt. That's why the Clinton years produced such a budget surplus. Taxes. We were getting taxed to death.

Good points all

It is not wise to blame our current situation on any one person. The government is a convoluted machine. It is an entity comprised of various beings that contribute to the sum of the parts. There are some valid points.

The cost of goods will temporarily increase as China's working population demand a higher standard of living. It happened here in the US after the depression.

The cost of fuel will increase for two reasons: Greed and Demand. Is it necessary for Exxon/Mob to show record profits? You will see that Wal-Mart generated more revenue (351 billion vs. $347 Billion) , however showed considerably less profit than Exxon/Mob ($11.5 billion vs. $40 billion) and Wal-Mart employs the largest work force! It is the right of a corporation to pay itself what it wishes. It is part of capitalism and the "American Dream".

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortu...ist/index.html

Our dollar is much weaker due to the debt we have and continue to incur. We borrow money to buy oil. The Japanese pay us back with our own money to build their cars on our soil for a tax break.......

I would rather see a dem in the white house at this point (even though I am historically republican) over a republican because I believe the Democrats are more interested in state side issues. My federal taxes aren't hurting me as much as the price of goods is, gas included. My family barely grosses 6 figures. We are just now building our future, getting rid of debt, etc...I can't see a war with peasants serving me any justice. I need the dollar to be stronger. Our 401ks need the dollar to be stronger and only 2 candidates have said they want out of Iraq.

What would have happened if we didn't "retaliate" to 9/11? Do you think it would have happened again? Does anyone really believe it costs this much money to avoid that tragedy? Does anyone really believe that the average Iraqi or Iranian or Palestinian has any thing better to do rather than see our demise? Don't they need to work and provide for their families? Don't they need food, shelter, clothing and some sort of infrastructure to survive? Is it really our place to be there? Would you rather kill yourself on a plane or go to work, feed the family, pet the dog and screw your wife? (maybe some of you have ugly wives, but I don't)
If we were directly attacked by another country, we would have turned that country into a wasteland. But to pick one spot in the middle of millions of square miles of land that is host to a myriad of terrorists is just plain dumb. Sadaams neighbors were afraid of his crazy a$$ and that kept them from focusing on bombing us. So what if Iran finally attacked Iraq!!! Then what, Iran takes over Syria and Lebanon and maybe Saudi Arabia!!! I still say SO WHAT. The minute those pecker heads attempted to so much as fart in our direction, does anyone not think for one second that we would not hesitate to put them 6 feet under? On top of that, how do you think the rest of the world would be then, I am pretty damn sure they would support us after watching Iran take over those nations.
We should have acted economically and politically in the shadow of 9/11, not in a military fashion. To cut that part of the world off would have been glorious.
We couldn't do it because so much of our freakin' economy is tied up with those twisted backwards people. So many jobs and lives depend on the insane decisions of these corporations.

Again, we are a global economy and we must act and think in this fashion. We must support the like minded civilized societies and sever ties with the societies that do not care to engage in a more humanitarian fashion. Say what you want about India and China, but they are attempting to bring themselves out of poverty. The middle east on the other hand is not.

Dubai s a shining example of what the middle east could endeavor to do. Be a host to the rest of the world, gracious and enterprising. Not building weapons of mass destruction and attempting to full fill a sick and twisted philosophy.

If you really want to kick some a$$. Start demanding hydrogen.

Look up "price fixation" in your economics textbook. Basically, it is where 2+ companies agree to set a price at a certain level-- they dont have to drive down prices in competition, thus they get rich quick.

I think everyone hit on the supply and demand already, so no sense in beating a dead horse there.

And what about the designs for ultra-efficient engines that oil producers buy up? They dont do that on accident, you know...

Yea, I gave the Republicans a Chance. I think I'm going for some change as I don't think things can get much worse.. Those Graphs spell things out pretty clearly....

Plus any Politician that tried to increase the price of Gas One CENT would be committing Suicide.. Dem's may be Dumb, but they're not STUPID.

Plus they've Both said they're going to tax the Oil companies "Windfall Profits", and cut the Billions of American Tax Dollars PAID to oil companies for reason's I'm still not sure of..

Honestly, I don't remember taxes being so high in the 90's under Clinton. Maybe it was because I was Making So Much Money! Geesh, times really Have changed..
