So basically let me figure this out. We along with a lot of other countries buy oil from the middle east. We have oil, yet we buy from others. The middle east runs out of oil and every other country looks for oil somewhere else. We have the oil, we then refine it and sell it for an absurd ammount of money to other countries. Am i the only one that thinks this is going to happen?

FYI - Actually, the USA buys the majority of their oil from Canada and Mexico, not the middle east. . .

As far as top producers, Canada ranks #2 I believe, Mexico 5 maybe but the middle east is something like 10th, so blame it on something else companies. There is truth to having more refineries to refine our own oil but you know red tape politicians and "green" people, gotta live in a perfect world as fast as yesterday.

My opinion on high gas prices is from the start of Katrina. When Hurricane Katrina hit the prices for gas in New Orleans were selling for $5-$6 dollars a gallon. Fuel companies realized that people would pay this and it set off around the country and prices went up about $2 a gallon. It was the big break they were looking for and they got it. The other big joke is that gas stations are changing their prices everyday, even when they fill thier tanks once or twice a week. The price's should not change until their tanks are empty and they have to refill them again and then set the prices off the new replenished fuel. Gas stations are ripping us off the most.

This is all fine and good with me, because with in 10 years we are not going to need gas and the fuel companies are going to be bankrupt. So they better make thier money now because their time is short. Gasoline is probably the only thing in this world that has no competition, the government talks about monopolies, well guess what oil company's are the biggest monopolies going. I cannot wait to buy the next alternative fuel car and shove it up the a$$ of the big oil companies. Maybe I will still fill the gas can for my lawn tractor, hopefully soon there will be alternative fuel lawn tractors soi never have to buy gas again..

Of course Obama is going to talk about fuel cost and how he going to lower the prices, he is desperate and will say anything to get your vote, it is a big topic. It is a joke, his slogan is CHANGE, nothing is going to change, nothing ever changes, has your life ever changed from any president who has been in the White house??. Belive me Obama is not going to lower any fuel cost in this country, Opec does what it wants, not what the US wants..

dream on, in ten years everyone will still be using gasoline. You do realize that oil is used for many things, not just gasoline right? Plastic, rubber, fertilizer (for your food supplies), lubricants etc. Even if we suddenly didn't use gasoline anymore, oil would still be sold and used.

lol risuperdouche gets owned.

People can bitch all day about gas but with the prices being in the govt's hand we cant do a think. Everyone needs to man up and do what you gotta do. If i have to sacrifice something else to pay for gas, then i will, because i have to use a vehicle to get places. I sacrificed the truck, paying over $100 every week for gas, went down to an SUV, paying less than half of what i paid for the truck in gas every week now with 23MPG. Ya gotta do, what ya gotta do.

You take the worlds #1 Greediest Co., called Exxon/Mobil who pleads to congress to continue to allow them to have tax breaks after they have posted more $$$ in profit than any other Corporation in this country! You have a President who basically got into the Office because he is heavily invested/supported by Big oil Corporations! Well folks you can defend his administration all you want! But you know what? I call a spade a spade, & I call it as I see it, & it is clear as a bell that the Tax paying Citizens of this Country including me & you are getting screwed over by the Bush's,the Cheney's, & the Exxon/Mobil's of this country! Combine that with the failing Dollar, due to this country spending TWO BILLION dollars a month in Iraq, & Oh Yes, Mr. Donald Rumsfeld who stated that this War was going to be paid for with Iraq's Oil Revenues! What a crook of Shiet! Thank God 01-20-09 is a comming!.............

Lets say the war were being funded with Iraq's Oil Revenues... I'd be willing to guess you would have a post on here bashing Bush and Cheney for "stealing" Iraq's oil. You'd would be talking about how horrible it was and how Bush sent our troops to war to STEAL their oil. Give us a break. You seem to be overlooking how much money "Big Oil" is putting into R&D, how much they are putting into alternative fuel methods, and how much it costs them to get the oil YOU use.

You do realize that you've just about quoted verbatim, what Randi Rhodes, Jerry Springer, Rachel Maddow, Thom Hartmann or any other Air America radio personality "proclaims" every single day.?
