Check out the S&W XVR. It shoots .45LC, .454Cassul, and .460S&W.

Yeah, I know, I was going to try to turn it into a sticky but I guess it pointless to even try now.

What is so special about a "Kimber" I hear a lot about that gun?

Ok I was wondering if anyone had a Rock Island Armory 1911? I went by the gun shop and was looking at the XD compacts, and saw this RIA 1911, and I've always wanted a 1911, so I picked it up, and its $399, a hell of a deal on a 1911. I just want a good entry level 1911 for now, I'm going to have one custom made later on down the road, but was wondering if anyone had experience with the gun, thanks.

Never heard of RBCD. I'm not sure I'd want to shoot a 60grn bullet in 357. In gelatin it may get some impressive numbers, but in a bad guy wearing a couple of layers of clothing and maybe a jacket, I'm wondering if it would perform well at all. I'll see if I can dig up some ballistics tests on it.

A friend of mine has one. It's a well fitted, basic, no frills, reliable 1911.

Nothing especially. They have some notoriety for building 1911s for the LAPD SWAT team and SIS team, and they supplied pistols to the US Shooting rapid fire team a few years back. Their current production guns are hit and miss; some are great, some not so great. I had a Kimber Custom II that I spent more time and ammo trying to get running right than I should have. I gave up on it and most 1911s for now.

There might be something to that RBCD ammo. The tests look pretty convincing. I wish their website was more informative.

That AA-12 shotgun is SICK!!!

Thats what I'm looking for, prob. going to "mod" it a little and change the guide rod and put in a 18.5lb spring, and some CM magazines, but thanks for the info, now to fork out the $400, that could go to heads, or cams, or short block

My understanding of Kimber pistols is that they do pretty fine custom work but that their "production" pistols are sub-par. Their custom pieces seem to be very pricey. The few "stock" pistols I've looked at in stores are certainly not worth the $900 - $1000 or more they ask. Very poor stocks, loose lock-up, extemely hard to engage thumb safety.

Nice sights, nice finish, but functionally not worth what they want as far as price.

Springfield, S&W, Para, and others make better stock 1911's.
