General Gun Discussion

I thought I'd make this thread to let some folks here talk about guns without having to make a new thread.

What guns are you looking to get? What do you own already? Pics?

I just got myself a Smith & Wesson Sigma 9mm. I got it from a friend at work for 240 dollars. I can't wait to get my second part of the income tax to get an HK USP .40 Compact. Tomorrow theres going to be a local gun show so I'll be sure to stop by there and check out what they got. Maybe I can pick up some ammo for cheap.

Ive got several guns but the newest is the springfield xd .40...if anyone on here is in the market for a handgun I highly recommend the springfield xd's...wanted a glock but after researching I decided on the xd and glad I did..easy to field strip..smooth shooting..and just looks bad ass...good gun:thumbsup:

faulkincanyon 03-28-2008 11:28 PM

dont get me wrong glocks are bad ass in the fact that they can basically withstand any abuse given and fire basically any ammo you load..but for the feel your right the xd feels more natural in your hand

Wow, I must be way over-armed!.. LOL

Marlin Golden 39 .22

Winchester single shot .22

H&R single shot 20 gauge

Remington 870 12 gauge

Remington 700 BDL .30-06

Winchester 94 .30-30

Remington 740 .243

Moisin-Nagant 7.54R

S&W 686 .357

Beretta 92F 9mm

Star StarFire .45

Springfield Armory .45

Those are what I have.. wanting a Sako or Remington (damn you Winchester!) in either .270 or .308.. haven't decided.. and if I could get a Ruger Vaquero in .38-40 I'd buy it in a minute..

:beers:

First, I need a bigger safe. Then, I'm definately gonna be looking at the Remmy 870. prolly with the pistol grip and an 18 or 20 inch barrel. I have also been hoping to get a 44 mag for camping, and for fun at the range, but I'm not sure which of these two I want:

S&W 629, 5" barrel

Ruger Redhawk, 5 1/2" barrel

I'm open for suggestions, as they are not available for rent around here.

1muddytruck,

Take a long look at the revolvers you posted. They are both very fine firearms. Excellent workmanship, and one of them would probably be great for you.

Notice though, the very different angle of the grips. The Smith is much more ah... upright than the Ruger. Most likely, one will fit your hand while the other will not be as comfortable. You really need to hold both of them, feel which one points more naturally, comes to aim quicker and easier *for you*!

That's the one you want to buy. Stay with that brand and you'll do fine. That's the brand for You!

If I had all the dollars I spent buying one of those brand's guns, and selling them because my hand does not like the configuration.... Fine firearm, just doesn't fit me.

I owned a Redhawk 44 mag in the past. Its a top notch firearm, but I'm going to suggest the S&W. 44 mag has alot of recoil and of course you feel all of it in your shooting hand. It doesn't take long shooting the Redhawk and your hand starts to go numb. The rubber grips on the S&W don't punish your hand nearly as much. Take a look at the Taurus revolvers as well.

We still have 2 Redhawks in 357 mag, very fun weapons to shoot since they don't punish your hand as much.

Is there a good handgun that can be concealed in the back pocket and still stop em in their tracks.?

I'm getting older, not as strong, I'd rather just bust em one and get it overwith:lol:

But seriously is there a pistol to fit that need.?

tardman91 03-29-2008 10:53 AM

I have a Taurus PT 24/7 .40 S&W. It's a really nice gun and is very comfortable to hold. It's very reliable and the price can't be beat.

Also looking at this but can't decide to go pistol grip or not:confused: Any suggestions on that?

What is a good locking gun rack that I can put on the ceiling to secure my shotgun? I looked at pro gard and they are like $300 for an electronic locking one that claims "there is no drilling," but I also read somewhere that for trucks I would have to drill? Anyways just looking for something cheaper maybe that will keep the shotgun secure so no one can just grab it out of my truck.
