The amount of pain and recovery period will vary depending on the doctor and the patient. The duration is usually between a couple of days and a week.
Ask your doctor about his track record in regard to recovery.

It is a lot less evasive for the man rather than the woman.
After our last child, my wife had further surgury and I didn't want to pile this on her too.

You're doing the right thing but, you already know that.
I'm telling you guys, I thought the same thing about any procedure being a lot harder on a woman than a man, but the doctor told me about that new Essure thing and after he explained it to my wife, she was all for it. I went into the hospital with her @ 10am, we were out by 1pm. She slept most of the day and was back in full force the following day. No recovery down time, little to no soreness, better success rate than a vasectomy and completely covered by insurance. We had to wait about a month before we could, you know... but still, well worth leaving the Big Jim and twins alone. I would at least ask about it or take a look at the link I posted earlier.

This procedure is not at all bad for the woman.

At best, point for point it's a tie.
After 30 years I still hold the door for my wife and I'd like to think I'd step in front of a bullet for her.

Didn't mean for that to sound like I was being judgemental.
Certainly all options should be explored. I was not aware of Essure, and your information is appreciated.

I hear ya. No worries. I am the same way and was against it intially, but she was all for it after we talked to the Doc. Who am I to stand in the way of a determined woman, especially when my manhood is at stake.

I just know that most people don't know about it, myself included...so I thought I would throw it out there.

Just stop at the desk on the way out. They hand you a bag with your marbles in it. I had mine bronzed and hang them in the truck from the mirror. It was that or under the trailor hitch. Great conversation piece. Good luck.

You do, but your load doesn't have any swimmers in it, therefore no babies A vasectomy doesn't take anything away except blocking your swimmers from the mix lets say

It's really not that bad. I've taken shots in the beanbag playing 3B in softball that have left me more tender for a longer period of time. Take some Aleve before you go in so it's in your system, then just follow the doctors orders.

And I was serious about the frozen peas. Get two bags and rotate 'em. Works wonders.

You're a good man, J-150. Hats off to you.
