Edge

First impressions : Badass

Got to try out this 2008 SEL Edge for today and i like it. Very easy to drive, the one i got is absolutely loaded. Not use to all this luxury. 265 hp in the v6, very nice.

Not sure exactly what color is it called but im lovin it.

Love to look of the rear end of this thing, taillights are great.

didnt like these 18" wheels at first but theyve definitly grown on me..

continued ..

The interior : fantastic

As i said, this thing is loaded. Black Leather seats. Dual climate control. Vista roof which is awesome. Leather heated seats are great. The rear reclining seats are also very comfortable.

Controls are all very nice. Didnt know how to use the climate controls at first but figured it out.

Thought the SYNC was really cool. I have yet to tryi t with my mp3 player but it all works very easily from the manual directions, and takes no time to setup.

Really like the gauges. Heard some people complaining about the way they were setup, but i think theyre very easy to read.

Overall, i really like this car. Will have to see how the gas is, but its very easy to drive and can easily see it a car to have for a while until i can get back into a truck like a 2 door silverado or new f150.

I thought it was because he finally grew enough facial hair to shave.

Get it, you won't be disappointed...

In fact, we only have 12 months left on the 06 F-150, We're thinking about getting a 2nd Edge. Probably a bare bones one to keep the cost down, and as a compliment to the loaded one we already have. Hopefully by then, Ford may introduce a 7-seat version on the Edge. The way the Edge and CX-7 are cousins, hopefully Ford will introduce a companion to Mazda's CX-9. But, if they don't, we're looking at the Edge as is, or maybe the Saturn Outlook or GMC Acadia as the 2nd vehicle.

Hey, in the 2008- can you get the Panoramic roof and DVD Player? You couldn't with the 2007. If you got the panoramic roof, you couldn't get the factory DVD. I'm jealous that the '07 didn't offer Sync. That's the only thing I miss from my MDX. The hands-free phone, and verbal commands. Sync integrates all of that now.

I've seen on the Lincoln commercials that now the MKX can be had with both, as the screens are now integrated into the headrest, rather than the flip down monitor from the roof.

We just got ours 4-5 months ago. Now they offer stock 20" wheels, and Sync. Still no bodyside molding or running boards...

What's the holdup, Ford?

OK, answered my own question...

I built and priced one on Ford's website... It seems you can't get the DVD and Navigation system.

Getting the Nav system automatically includes the panoramic roof. But, adding the DVD player, deletes both the Nav and the Roof.

I don't see what the Limited offers that the 2007 SEL Plus didn't, aside from the available black leather seats with read seating surfaces (Boy, I bet that's a sexy look in the Edge).

So, instead of SE, SEL, and SEL Plus, they now offer SE, SEL, and Limited.

They're catching on luke wildfire. There's at least 6 - 8 in my parking lot now and that's just on the side I park in.

Yea, I'm really digging these Crossover Vehicles. I had a GMC Acadia for a weekend for work. It was Sweet! 6 speed automatic with manual shift mode, Big Wheels, AWD. It was seriously FAST!

I'm pretty sure I have my wife conviced to get one instead of a Mini Van. :o

I took some clothes to the cleaners and met an older guy driving an F-150. I was already in the store when he came in, He asked,

Him: "Is that your Edge out there?"

Me: "Yes sir."

Him: "How do you like it?"

Me: "I love it! I think it's the best thing Ford's rolled off their assembly line in decades".

Him: "Well I'll be damned! I've never seen a car that everybody I ask if they like it, loves it!"

I laughed..

Me: "I had an Acura MDX, but that Edge is so nice, I don't really miss it."

He said, "Oh yeah, those Acura's are nice. But, that what you're driving now is nice too."

Me: Why thank you. Yeah, it gets better gas mileage than my MDX did, and it only requires 87. The Acura needed 89 minimum and recommended Premium. It only got 14 MPG in the city, but she'd do 24-25 MPG on the highway. This Edge is getting about 18 in the city, and about 23 on the highway."

Him: Expletive! I drive to Fort Worth everyday, and that Son of a Expletive! out there is only getting about 14 MPG on the highway- or in city traffic.

Me: Yeah, I know. I had a 2003 Expedition with the 5.4L, and that joker was getting about 12 in the city, or less. The best I ever saw it do was 14.3 on the highway... But they're good trucks. We're getting about 18 with our 06 SuperCrew.

Him: Well, that 2007 out there ain't nowhere near 18. If I didn't have to run my business, and needed my truck. I'd trade it today on one of those Edges...

Yep, it's a nice Crossover. I rarely even read anything bad about it, and never heard a bad word about it.

Ford has done well with this SUV.
