Man I'm getting a bad feeling about the thread that's coming from Kobi in a few days
In fact, this may awaken something inside him and he will become a lumberjack.
He'll be on here cussin' and drinkin' and misspellin words and asking what are you gonna do about it.

Yea try to get someone there who has used a chainsaw before.
There is a right way and a wrong way for everything on them.
Everything from starting to direction of cut.
Wrong way gets you hurt.
If you cut wrong, best case scenario you pinch the bar, worst it kicks back and cuts your forehead. Watching someone it looks like they just put the bar on the wood and give it gas..... No, they evaluated the situation first and decided where the tension is and what side they had to cut into, or if they needed to notch it, etc etc etc.
I've been using one for about 20 years, dad and great grandpa taught me the basics, and I'm still learning new tricks......

Kobi, if you just would have "manned up" as previously stated, you would have been prepared for this.
My gawd man, take it easy, keep away from the downed power lines, keep the sharp spinning end of the chain saw away from your flesh. As it happens in things like this, power companies from all over the U.S. usually show up and help get the power back on. Good night, and good luck...

Regarding all the comments about life with a chainsaw:

As luck would have it, The Home Depot is all out of chainsaws! So a friend came over and brought a hatchet. He figured I would just be cutting a few branches, so the hatchet he brought was a small handheld hatchet. And so, in the pouring rain, I used a small handheld hatchet and cut off all the limbs (of the tree) that blocked my driveway. (I guess you could say I "manned up") Yes, some of the first manual labor Kobi has ever done, and he did it in adverse conditions in sub freezing temperatures, in pouring rain.
I AM SUPERMAN.
With regard to the bowsaw thing, yup, I was told I needed to get one of those along with the chainsaw.
Looks like I am going to be acquiring tools and implements of death here.
Awesome!
In other news. still no phones, but the electricity has stayed on for some time (with the occasional flicker near drop out). My only internet access is when a random wifi that is not encrypted shows up, usually this one that is a VERY weak signal. Then I pounce on it before I lose the signal. THis post was typed ahead of time and when the signal appears (it drops out a lot) I do a quick cut and paste.
It has been raining all day and the ice is starting to melt. Every so often I hear a gigantic CRASH. TUrns out it is the sheet ice on my roof falling off, and fall off it does . . . in rather sizable chunks, that shake the ground on impact.
The ice covering the driveway has melted and so I decided to drive to the grocery store to get some food. ALl the frozen stuff defrosted and is now no good. It's weird, but it didn't occur to me to take the food out of the freezer and place it outside . . . where it would have stayed frozen. Logic does not work this way when you're from Lost Angeles.
If this isn't the ultimate learning experience, I don't know what is.
