Ain't worried about the cash, ain't even worried about the truck-> someone wants it bad enough to pull a gun, I'll wash it, wax and fill it up for them. Then the first call is to the PD to get a report #, 2nd is to the insurance company, and third is to the dealer. Things can be replaced

However, if you threaten my family, my responsibility is to protect them and I will do that to the best of my ability and I will be prepared to do that. No, I do not carry day to day {our neighboring state where I work does not allow CC,} but I have been doing it more and more as the news gets worse and worse.

Wow.. I'm a little disappointed in a few of the posts here..

"Just let them take what they want.."... etc.

That's the mindset of a victim.

What right does anyone have to take from you what you've worked for by force? Why would you let them?

By that logic rape victims should just, "lay back and enjoy it"..

YOU are the only one that can defend yourself, the police have no legal obligation to protect you. Their obligation is to catch the person who robbed/raped/murdered you.

I just don't understand the way of thinking that says, hey.. this thug took the time, put in the effort to rob me.. he earned it..

Idiocy

I think the idea there is not that we plan to allow others to take our stuff, it's more that our stuff isn't the primary concern. As was stated above, I would not shoot someone for stealing my truck. Among other reasons, I don't feel like enduring a long drawn out legal defense over it. The lawyer I'd have to hire would likely cost me more than the truck!

I worked hard to earn the money for the pumpkin that we put out on our front doorstep last week. Should I use deadly force to protect it? How about my car stereo? Should I kill a kid for trying to steal that? Sometimes we are victims of crimes, but the only crime I am willing to kill to avoid being a victim of is one that threatens the safety of my family or me.

However, I will say this - if the BG pulls a gun while trying to steal my pumpkin/car stereo/truck or whatever, then he better kill me, because he will not walk away. If a gun is presented, I will always assume that the intent is to use it, even if during retreat, and I will be forced to use DF.

I don't even know where to start with the whole rape comparison. That's just stupid. I am pretty sure that while I would not shoot a car thief, I'd happily shoot someone whose intent was to forcefully violate my balloon knot

I still want a Glock 19. Just don't want to pay $500 for one.
. . like the poster before me, you need to look up your local laws. I really don't think you're speaking the truth considering you're from Texas, correct? I'm from Florida and I'm aloud to use a weapon in a case like that.

The $500 for the Glock19 is a steal .. Check out the Springfield XD45 though.

Here's what a portion of the Texas penal code states:
§ 9.32. DEADLY FORCE IN DEFENSE OF PERSON. (a) A person is justified in using deadly force against another:
(1) if he would be justified in using force against the other under Section 9.31;
(2) if a reasonable person in the actor's situation would not have retreated; and
(3) when and to the degree he reasonably believes the deadly force is immediately necessary:
(A) to protect himself against the other's use or
attempted use of unlawful deadly force; or
(B) to prevent the other's imminent commission of aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated sexual
assault, robbery, or aggravated robbery.
(b) The requirement imposed by Subsection (a)(2) does not
apply to an actor who uses force against a person who is at the time
of the use of force committing an offense of unlawful entry in the
habitation of the actor."

To put this into context with ddgarcia's post, a butt kicking does not necessarily warrant deadly force, however subject factors must come into play. People can and do kill other people without the use of a weapon. The only thing that must be satisfied is the reasonable belief that the person being beaten believes they are in danger of being murdered.

$525 plus the bs at a gun show. It came with white dots so I sent the slide to Trijicon for tritiums and that was ??? I want to say like $125-150 or something. It fits like a glove in a medium hand or bigger and still holds 13 sweet .45's in the clip. Much thinner handle than a full size Glock .45 for reference which borders on too big for my medium size hand after a few sweaty clips. It has nice safety/visual/touch features to let you know the status day or night and passed the same insane torture test the Glock did. I got the whole set up for similar price as a basic HK which was a very close second. Most importantly, I have about 2,500 round through it of which 95+% are 230 ***** and not one hiccup. It will not load Talons reliably (imo 1 failure is unreliable) I believe due to their sharp lip but any hollow point with a curled lip is no problem.
