Because I can. "An armed society is a polite society".
I spent 20 years in uniform,so that I can.

And the old saying:

It's better to have a gun and not need it, Then to need a gun and not have it.

You don't have to live in a huge city to have a high crime rate involving guns. I live in Jacksonville FL and right now we again have the highest murder rate in the state of Florida. Plus with 126 murders so far this year, we have the most murders in Florida and have already had more than last year which was a record. And 3/4 of those murders are concentrated in a small quadrant of the city. Jacksonville is a relatively small metro area of less than 1 million people compared to larger cities so it often gets overlooked when looking at data.

I'd rather be judged by 12,than carried by 6.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

There are countless web sites out there that deal with this subject. www.thehighroad.org comes to mind. They deal with 2nd Amendment rights, legal issues around carrying and using a firearm, tactics, activism and specific gun-related questions. The people on there are not the "gun-ho, kill 'em all" type (okay a few of them are), they are just people who believe they have the right to protect themselves and their families if needed. If you really want some great answers to your question, post it on there.

My off-duty. There are quite a few people I have taken off the streets that would be less than happy if they recognized me out of uniform one day.

VT is located in a small "safe" town too! if you dont feel the need to own a firearm then dont, just dont question those of us that do.

You can get you *** kicked and you still can't use your gun against them cuz they dont have a weapon.

I still want a Glock 19. Just don't want to pay $500 for one.

I went to barns and nobles the other day just to pick up something before I went to work and there was some guy opening doors for people entering in hopes someone would give him some change. As I was walking out I looked and him in the eye and he said, "Nice you see you on the outside." This was on the upper side (nice/rich) of the city, just goes to show that you never know when you might incounter someone you locked up.

im comfortable with just a knife. If i had a gun id be more concerned with it getting in the wrong hands more than using it to protect myself.

Mine is only .6 of an inch bigger:
But I love it. Sig 239 .40cal

EDIT:
Striking family resemblence to her big brother Sig 229 40cal (on duty)
Gotta keep the family together.

The reason I got the off duty was the same pistol functions, features and realiability. Nothing to think about by using a different weapon.
Thank God I haven't had to

Forget the cash there isnt enough in the world worth fighting for, if that is all they want then they can have it. I can always make more. I can't make another life for myslef, if they kill me thinking I might have cash...... It's done, it's over, gone.... Worse yet, if they killed my family or friends while I watched helplessly and I lived........
