Does anyone know what Silva is weighing now? I know that Rampage is weighing in at around 205 right now. Silva looks heavier than that. Rampage has fought at heavier weights though. At some points he has fought at around 230 lbs. I would like to watch those two go at it for the third time. I think it would just be a blood bath this next time.

*EDIT* I found a cool interview that I thought you guys might like. Check it out...

You watch, you'll see Jackson vs. Silva in 2008.

Who's ordering UFC tomorrow night?? I am. I can't wait to see Franklin regain his title.

I wont be getting this one. I have to be careful with my cable bill this month, or my finance manager (aka - wife) will do horrible things to me.

CHUCK LIDDELL vs. WANDERLEI SILVA

UFC 79: NEMESIS

SATURDAY, DEC. 29
LIVE FROM MANDALAY BAY EVENTS CENTER

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – For years, UFC® fight fans have speculated about the outcome of a historic dream matchup between two legendary figures in the sport of mixed martial arts, Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva. Tonight, on Spike TV’s 2007 Scream Awards, UFC President Dana White announced that this dream will finally become a reality when UFC and PRIDE former champions Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva face each other at UFC 79: NEMESIS live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center Saturday, December 29, 2007.

“Chuck and Wanderlei – two legends in the sport – will face off in the most important match of their careers at UFC 79,” said Dana White, UFC President. “Chuck and Wanderlei have both wanted this fight for as long as they can remember, and this is definitely the fight that fans have waited for years to see. Finally, PRIDE’s most dangerous striker will face the UFC’s most dangerous striker, and the world will know after years of speculation who will win and who will lose this fight.”

A special Internet ticket pre-sale is available now to UFC newsletter subscribers. To access this presale, users must register for the UFC newsletter through www.ufc.com.

There also will be a special auction for Octagon-side floor seats available only through www.ticketmaster.com starting Wednesday, October 24 and ending Monday, November 5.

UFC 79: NEMESIS is available live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST on iN DEMAND, DIRECTV, DISH Network, TVN, Bell ExpressVu, Shaw Communications and Viewer’s Choice Canada for a suggested retail price of $39.95 ($39.99 CAD) and $49.95 for HD where available.

Liddell (20-5), considered by many to be the greatest light heavyweight fighter of all time, reigned as the 205-pound UFC champion for over three years. He knocked out seven opponents in seven consecutive fights, including Randy Couture (twice), Vernon White, Jeremy Horn, Renato “Babalu” Sobral and Tito Ortiz (twice), before he was defeated by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 71 in May. Chuck now returns to the Octagon to face the fighter he has wanted to fight for years – Wanderlei Silva.

“I’m excited this fight with Wanderlei is finally happening,” said Liddell. “I’ve been saying for a long time that, given the chance, I would knock Wanderlei Silva out. I think this will be a great fight for the fans, and one that lives up to their expectations, because I’m going to hit him until he falls down and stays down.”

The 31-year old Silva (31-7-1), known by fight fans as “The Axe Murderer” for his ultra-aggressive style and finishing ability, began his career almost 11 years ago in his native Brazil,

fighting in Vale Tudo bouts that pushed him to the limit as he honed the skills that would soon make him one of the most feared fighters on the planet. He met great success by winning the PRIDE organization’s middleweight championship and defeating the likes of current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson (twice), Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba (three times), Ricardo Arona, Hidehiko Yoshida, and Kazuyuki Fujita, while engaging in some of the most memorable fights in MMA history. Well-rested after his February PRIDE fight against Dan Henderson, Silva is ready to take on Liddell and secure the most important victory of his mixed martial arts career.

“I’ve wanted to fight Chuck for a long time,” said Silva. “I think about this fight a lot, our styles are very similar – we are both great strikers. I’m training very hard, because I want to give my next victory to my fans. After I beat Chuck, then I want to fight the champion.”

In addition to Liddell vs. Silva, UFC 79 features the main event welterweight championship matchup between UFC champion Matt Serra (16-4) and former UFC champion Matt Hughes (43-5).

Current UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra, fresh off his knockout victory over Georges St-Pierre in April, looks to defend his title for the first time against the legendary Hughes and secure his own legacy in the UFC 170-pound division. Hughes, a two-time UFC champion with seven combined title defenses to his name, has a deadly ground game that has earned him wins over St-Pierre, BJ Penn, Chris Lytle, Royce Gracie, and Frank Trigg (twice).

Damn Skippy folks.

I will be rooting for my boy, BUT - if you have seen “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva throw down, then you know that Chuck will definetly have his hands full.

Wanderlei is one of the the top fighters on this planet. He comes to the ring with a huge amount of agression and talent. He has some massively heavy hands and can do damage in the blink of an eye.

For those that have said he looks like a retard or whatever....he's a monster, not handicap.

Wanderlei will have the title in 2008! My prediction.

Jamz I would start sweet talking the wife now to let you order pay per view. I would start by buying her some flowers randomly and take her out for dinner near the event to build up some extra points. That way since your in the good books she'll let you order the fight.

Im spending the extra money for HD, for sure. A fight like this has to be seen in HD! I think Chuck is pretty much fighting for his life here, which might be a HUGE advantage for him. Wanderlei is nothing short of an amazing fighter, but I just pray that Chuck can whoop his ***. I think Chuck will train harder for this fight than any other fight in his career. He is going to be living in the Pit!!!

No need to sweet talk her....She knows I'm a huge Chuck fan...she wont tell me, "no".

If she does....no dang-dang for her hoppie patch for a loooooong time.

I think Chuck's conditioning is top notch...it's his mental game that has me worried.

He is coming off 2 losses, one loosing his belt, and the other from Keith Jardine. I give Jardine big time props..the dude is a hoss, but that should have been Chuck's fight, but he just wasn't in the "game" if you know what I mean. I can bet you this....a lot of people lost money on that fight.

I fully agree. Even if you didn't watch the fight, you could just look at them after the fight and tell who should have won. Jardine looked like 3 people were beating him down. He was TORE up after that fight. His face looked like ground beef, and you can tell he broke his nose. I think that Chuck will be good to go coming into this fight. I just hope he can do to Wanderlei what Rampage did to him!!!

I think Chuck in a bit of a slump. He will be back. I'm not worried about the guy. Although 2 loses my play on you mentally but I think Chuck will bounce back just fine. I not a massive Chuck fan but he is a good fighter non the less and is a great champion.

Im torn whether I want Hughes to win or Serra??? I want Serra to win so Georges will have a chance to fck him up and redeem himself. But in one way I want Hughes to win just for the stupid statement he said when Georges lost the title "I love it" I want GSP to slap that stupid smile off his face.

GSP will have the title for 2008~ I believe. Plus he would it be good for the sport.
