Jena 6?
Damn.
I didn't mean to open a can of worms.
All I know and I can say about this ingorance is, if it takes 6 kids to beat up one kid, that's where I have a problem.
I don't care if you're white, black, hispanic, illegal, martian, WHATEVER!, 6 on 1 is grounds for some serious action. Those 6 kids can rot in the blazes of hell for all I care. If it was 6 white kids beating down 1 black kid, I'd feel the same way towards the white kids.

school and local police should have shut this down long ago. called in the people involved and threated legal action against the kids, the parents and threated to charge people for hate crimes....both sides

I agree 100% on the nooses, but those nooses didn't cause any physical damage. The nooses just pissed people off, and prolly hurt some feelings.
Their is a difference IMO.
"Sticks and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me". (or something like that)
...again, I agree on the nooses and that should have been the stopping point. The little assclowns that hung the nooses need to be delt with as well. A slap on the wrist is not going to teach a kid a dad-gum thing.

another thing, when i was in high school, i had a noose around my mirror, heck one of the ties i wore to a dance was a noose. did it mean i wanted to hang someone? No.
is this a racial issue?
ask yourself this: what does a noose mean to you?

Come on man, why else would they have hung those nooses from the tree at school?
I also live in proximity of Jena and am tired of hearing and watching this snot that should not even be an issue right now had it all not been taken care of accordingly at the time it happened. I do not even feel like getting started on Al Shat-on and Jesse Jackass. However I would not be surprised if this turns out to be the town where they are assassinated.

In all honesty though, you shouldn't say stuff like that. It can get you in a world of trouble these days.

Extra points on certian govt test here, jobs that are available even though someone else is more qualified but the quotas are in place, special rate govt loans to open business' that are available to minorities, the list goes on and on.

As for the Jena 6:
I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree on this. However, what I do try to do is look at the whole picture, and that is where I think I'm missing you.
I have said this is not about black or white, it's about right and wrong. That's why they protested.
Were the black kids right for jumping the white kid? No, absolutely not. But, kids are kids. Are you going to sit here on your high horse today, and tell me you never got into a fist fight in school? You've never struck anyone, or as a consequence of running your mouth, been struck by another person out of anger?
I think most people on this board, under the rule of laaw, are guilty of "battery" and the "intent" to do bodily harm upon another being. Just because our blows didn't cause the person we struck to lose consciusness, it doesn't make us any less guilty in the eyes of the law.
The vast majority of us are guilty. So, I ask you. If you struck a kid at school when you were 16, and got sent to jail for 20 - 80 years, but, I struck a kid the week before and all I got was a misdemeanor, no jail time, and community service or something lame like that. Can you really say that's fair? That's the reason for the protest, and so far- none of what you have said, addressed that fact. That is why the DA will be called on the carpet for this.
If you're truly honest, then you can't say that's fair. If you can, then the reason you can, is because deep down, whether you admit it or not, it really is about black and white, to you. If it was about being "fair" then you'd see this kid doesn't deserve that much time in prison for beating up a kid. Not when other kids guilty of the same crime, are scott free.
You say he was an unwilling combatant? I disagree. Anytime you go flapping your gums to another person, you just made yourself a willing combatant, be it verbal, or physical. As adults, it's up to us not to go there. These are 14-16 yer old kids, not "grown men".
The Jena 6 were wrong for beating that boy up, but those white kids were wrong for beating the black kid up too. It does not matter that the black kid maintained his consciousness, and was not hospitalized. He was still attacked, he was struck repeatedly, by white kids- who were charged with a misdemeanor, when black kids, guilty of the same crime, were charged with much more severe crimes? Why?
Justice may be blind, but she isn't stupid. That's racism. Anyway you slice it. If a black DA had let the black kids slide, but threw the book at the white kids, with that kind of blatant favortism, there'd have been crosses burning in the black DA's yard, if he made it home that night.
Remember Paris, TX from earlier this year? Black girl sat in juvenile prison for over a year, for pushing a white teacher's aide in Paris, TX, bruising her arm. Meanwhile, a white teenaged boy, guilty of vehicular double homicide against a pedestrian black woman and her 3-year old gransdon, and a white teenaged girl guilty of arson against her own family, were released on probation.
Black Push: Prison
White Double Murder: Probation
White Arson: Probation
Fair?
So, blacks don't have a right to be upset about blatant, "in-your-face" discrimination, unjust persecution, and obvious racial bias with regard to punishment for crime??? Let me ask you. If that's not worth being upset over. If that's not worth protesting over. What is? How much would be enough for you? Where would you draw the line?
It's about justice. Nothing more, nothing less. That's what it's about to me.
What's it about to you?

My only beef is:
22-80 years in prison -vs- misdemeanor.
If they all got misdemeanors, or if they all got jail- we wouldn't be debating this right now. But, because they were not treated equally, this has become a national issue, CNN, MSNBC, USAToday, even CBS News Sunday Morning, talked about this...

Like you said I guess we can agree to disagree here. My problem with this case has nothing to do at all with black/white. It has to do with right and wrong, severity of a crime, intent, and pre-meditation.
This is the way I see it as well as the reasoning behind it.
I have been in more than my fair share of fist fights over the years, and for every one that I was in I could have easily been brought to jail and sentenced to jail time for it. While I might not have thought about the consiquences when the time came to throw a punch, prior to and in retrospect I knew the consiquences of my actions and at the time the fight was worth the risk for me.
You are comparing two totaly different sets of circumstances that had two totaly different results and trying to justify one using the other. If you want to completely understand the reasoning behind it just look at it this way. You go out to a club and hook up with a girl. You had both been drinking and are both pretty drunk, you take her to your place and you know the rest. Next day she decides that she was too drunk to make an honest judgement and files rape charges against you. Considering you were both drinking, you did not drag her to your house and rip her clothes off, chances are while they might charge you they will probably charge you with a lesser charge. Now take the same scenario but this time she either was passed out before you began to have at it, or you slipped some GHB into her drink, you are now looking at a Felony Rape charge.
Here you have a kid that showed up under his own will to a party. Words were crossed and a fight broke out. Yes I understand that that kid was out manned as well fighting 2 or 3 to 1 which I firmly believe is a coward move. I feel for him and I wouldn't mind seeing the 3 or 4 who jumped him spend some time behind bars as well but thats not the way the law reads. You can not compare that to the situation the Jena 6 are in. The MAIN factor in the charges is that the kid was unconcious PRIOR to the attack. Had the kid been knocked out DURING the fight that would have been one thing but he was unconcious prior to. So you have 6 kids, one of them hits a kid FROM BEHIND rendering him unconcious. Now after he is on the ground and not moving they decide to beat him a little more. Had the kid been face to face running his mouth and seen it coming then hey you gotta pay to play.
You can not say that these were kids, and that is just what kids do. Three or four of them had prior records for battery so they knew full well the results of their actions. Saying that they were kids and didn't know what they were doing as an excuse then you might as well do away with the juvinille criminal justice system and balme everything they do on them not knowing any better. They were 16 and 17 not 9 or 10 at that age you should be responsible for your actions.
As for me being a racist I don't think so. I grew up with, played ball with, went to school with, and some of my best friends to this day are black. My problem is everyone wants to protest this case for no reason other than the B/W issue. Now if the community was to stand up and say hey they do not deserve this stiff charge(Attempted Murder) but they do deserve to be charged with Assult, that would be fine but they are not. They are saying that these kids should be let off the hook 100%. Now Jesse, Al, and MLK III are involved so EVERYONE wants to jump on the bandwagon with them. What kills me is that J, A, and M want these kids to be set free, however had the shoe been on the other foot they would be protesting that the DA dropping the charges to Assult was bias. Lets strive for equal rights but only when they fit into our agenda is the way they(JJ, AS, MLKIII) see it.

My hat's off to 01TruBluGT. I agree with you amigo. Like the other people on this forum from La, I'm also pretty tired of hearing/seeing Jena6 non-stop. It's in the LSU Daily Newspaper every day. One of my professors came to class one day telling us about the protest (which he attended), I wanted to walk out just because I'm so sick of hearin about it.
6 on 1...they should add 6 years to their sentence just for being such pansies.
