There's good cops and bad cops.
A guy I worked with was a Sheriff and Police officer for 13 years in two states. He ended up quitting because of the people he worked with. He said that in the last place he worked (and what really drove him to quit), the police would take bets on who could give the most speeding tickets in one week. He would hear daily stories of how an officer was picking on drivers and being a bully.... just trying to push the driver's buttons and they laughed about it like it was a game.
I was driving down a 4 lane road one day here in town after work. About 1:30 AM. Im in the outside lane and the cop in the lane beside me, but up ahead in the road about 100yrds. The cop slams on his brakes... I pass by and he whips it into my lane and gets right on my bumper.
That pissed me off. I just got done working 12 hours and if I had gotten pulled over.... I'd been very mad.... to say the least.

The kid should have answered the officers questions and showed ID plain and simple. I think the kid is out looking for trouble like this.
The officer should have not been such a hot headed douche....he's not a cop he's a power tripn Ahole!

"The best way to get back at these kind of cops, wait, that's really hard."
I heard that on another board, which is too true. But this was a good attempt with the video in the car yet people find a reason to flame. Brilliant kid, should be more like him. This cop is a douchebag to the utmost degree. He gets paid to do his job without letting his emotions intervene, how hard was that in this case? I just hope he doesn't breed.
Thats the worst story about cop behavior I've ever heard. I have a neighbor whose CHP, one of the most down to earth people I've met. He acknowledges this type of officer being part of the force, but says he has nothing to do with them. He goes on to tell me that he doesn't have any officers he hangs out with on a regular basis, based on the fact that they let emotion rule most of their judgement. They are typically the younger guys, he's older, but that is no excuse. Powertrip is an understatement here, sounds like flavor flav "want me to take ya to jail BOYEEE"

Glad the kid did it! Don't care if it was a setup! Cops do it all the time...Why cant an ordinary citizen have a camera in his car? Why even question it? It is certainly not illegal. Sounds like the kid had a previous incident with a *****, and wanted to cover his butt. I did not see or hear that the kid did ANYTHING to coerce the cop. It started off bad when the cop claimed the kid did not signal, (you saw the signal) and it went downhill from there. I am ashamed of those of you bashed the kid...What if it was you, your wife, your life partner
or your kid who was pulled over by this cop? Someone commented on the kids gene pool. Cmon! Seriously? Did that need to be said? The Government tramples our rights daily...example...the freakin video you just watched...and you feel it necessary to belittle a kid who's standing up for YOUR rights. I think a little more support might be in order. I don't hate cops...they are a necessary evil. This cop was a bully, a blemish to the badge! I just wonder how many other citizens were forced to endure this ****** tirade, or were falsely arrested...
Pickin on the kids genes pool...are ya just jealous his family tree has limbs?

OK, couldn't make it through the entire vid. Yeah, the cop was a power tripping **** and was out of line, making up charges, looking for an altercation, etc...
But I give the young man some blame, too. He needs to grow up and understand that when a cop knocks on your window in the middle of the night, he's already on an adrenaline rush before he even speaks to you. Afterall, you could be armed and dangerous. The cop has to prepare himself for that possibility.
Maybe if he's an a'hole, when he's on his adrenaline rush the cop will give you a small ration of crap you don't deserve. Big deal - you can whine to your friends about it later. By having attitude, you are perpetuating the possibility that you are a threat to him. He's an adrenaline fueled man with a gun in the middle of the night, and he's trained to neutralize threats. And maybe he's just had a really bad day.
You may be in the right, but just how much do you want to argue with an opponent like that? If you got any brains at all, you nod your head and say 'Yes Sir' alot. Unless you like bruises, legal bills and nights in jail.

Frightening to think that cop wears a gun on his hip. He's a menace and a disgrace.

Allow me to retort...If a cop is on an adrenaline rush for pulling someone over on false charges (turn signal). Fire him immediately! You DO NOT WANT juiced up ****** carrying guns and serving the public!

What part of this can I not rip to shreads? Are you really rationalizing this. You're using this statement as an excuse? Really? Think about what you just said..."Trained to neutralize threats"? Are you confused with what the military and police officers job descriptions are? Isnt a police officer supposed to diffuse a situation, bring peace and calm to the situation? You chose NEUTRALIZE? WTF? You appearantly want cops to neutralize the situation first. Really? Is this China, North Korea, or Sommalia?
"Had a bad day" When did this become an excuse for harrassment?
Really, if I am off base here let me know. Bash me till I am black and blue, because these thoughts come from a God fearin', gun totin, lib hatin', Texas needs some sucession' type of thinking.

My point is if the cop thinks he is in a high risk situation, you might want to consider his state of mind before exercising whatever Constitutional Rights you might have to be disrespectful.

Also, as I mentioned before, it helps to keep the context in mind. Middle of the night at a commuter stop. Not many legitimate reasons for a young man to be pulling in there then, so it's suspicious. Suspicious behavior is going to set the cop on edge before he talks to you.
Apparently the word 'Neutralize' really sets you off. How about I edit it to defuse? Then you can stop implying I want all our cops to act like those in the totalitarian regimes you mentioned.

The cop was wrong. Period. If you can't handle some kid with an attitude problem, with the experience he claims to have, you need to look into a career change.
On a side note.... If you are out there pushing buttons and trying to see how much attitude you can get by with, when pulled over by a police officer, I hope you run into every ***** with a ticket book and big assed flashlight in the world. I don't care if you get a bruised noggin or a few dollars taken out of your account for fines. Maybe you'll learn how to treat other people in the process. A simple "good morning officer" would have prevented this situation.
