You cant be pure and hyphenated.....
So now real true country is known as american folk or bluegrass.
If you want real country, thats real country. Everythign else is fake
Now I do agree with you that Bluegrass is country music's true form, and I enjoy listening to it, but that doesn't mean all other forms of country music are "fake". Why can't country music be broken down into differnt types? Every other genre is (Rock - Rock & Roll, Alternative, Metal, etc.)

After saying that, Hank Williams SR is country. George Jones is country. George Strait is country. Chris Ledoux is country. None of those guys sound anything alike but you would be crazy to say any one of em is not a country music singer, whether you like their songs or not.

I agree but they use the hyphens.
Country is the only one that throws everyone in a big pot.
If you like Country/western then your a country/western fan, shouldn't claim to be country fan.
Same with honky tonk, outlaw, hick hop or anything else.
Many artist bleed through many of the genres with various songs.

But we cant say Hick Hop is not country, and claim country-western, outlaw, honky tonk or anything else is when non of those are really country either. If we're gonna ban a style, then we must ban them all and get back to the roots. Other wise its all country.

OK PSS-Mag, I'll give you that. But "Hick Hop" or whatever it's called is straying a little to far away from the roots. Outlaw, Honky Tonk, and Country/Western are generally fairly close to what country music is all about.

I will still classify Cowboy Troy as a Pop-Country singer though, along with Rascal Flatts, Kieth Urban and The Wreckers, as well as several more of the new guys. And as we all know, Pop-Country sucks.

I like and can listen to most pop country.
Not saying I'd pay to attend thier concerts, not even saying I'd take time to attend thier concerts for free.

I listen to everything though.
From speed metal to bluegrass, even some hip hop and rap on occasion.
Yea my mixes are funny....

country music is broken down into different genres, most people just don't realize what the forms are.

1. rock-a-billy johnny cash, elvis, hank sr
2. pop country 95% of the crap on the radio
3. outlaw country wille nelson, merle haggard, david alan coe
4. alternative country southern culture on the skids, hank III
5. americana which is what most bluegrass falls into

i'm not a big fan of country but i do love johnny cash, willie nelson, and a lot of bluegrass as long it is not the real religious type, i like the crazy hillbilly's that have no teeth and play the hell out of their instruments.

Ohh I forgot rockabilly, I guess they do have some country in them too.!!!
Probably the closest to country out of all subcategories.

I would have put Johnny Cash and Hank in outlaw since a large part of thier songs were about fighting, prison, gangs, breaking the law, etc. Bascially sung versions of gangster rap songs.

Not a fan of anyone in paticular but I like 80's ^ Rockabily too, those guys just seem to have...... FUN!!! While making music and performing.

Hey, MC Hammer is back, in country rap form. I kinda like it because I really can't stand all this pop-country sh-t that's all you hear. Sorry folks, Johnny Cash and a bit of bluegrass is all I'll listen too. Cowboy Troy is kinda funny.

Thats called Old Age Trapped in a Time Warp Syndrome.

One day you realize they dont make good music anymore, the next you realize that they dont make any good looking clothes anymore either. Suddenly the world is crazy and filled wth everyone dressing like freaks and they are listening to music that you dont understand and punk kids wont stay off your lawn.
