Alot of this new country is absolute **** and gives real country a bad name
I love this one by George Strait with Alan Jackson. I think it pretty much says it all:

Cowboy Troy was Hick Hop I thought and nothing can be worse than that song by nelly and tim mcgraw. I don't really like cowboy troy's music but I don't bash him for it. Obviously someone likes him because he is still making music. I am pretty sure alot of people told Hank Williams Jr. he wasn't country when his music didn't sound just like his Dad's too.

Rap music isn't as popular huh. I believe that Rap music or hip hop is as popular as country music. A lot of people like myself listen to both. I don't really like this song but I use to be a big fan of the Muzik Mafia.

Most country fans didnt accept Hank Sr or Johnny Cash as country either. Told them their style was not and never would be country music. Now they are known as some of countries all time greats.......

Who is Cowboy Troy? I have noticed that where you are in the country depends on what you classify as country music. What I might see as good music, people in other areas may not and vice versa. I do agree that many modern country singers are trying to be more pop sounding.

Not ALL country music is about beer guzzling rednecks sung with that southern twang.

I like Trace Adkin's song, "Songs about me". Real country music is music that people can relate to. Plus you can understand the words on at least 99% of the songs and actually hear what they are saying.

Pop, Rap/hip hop, rock and most all the other music genres do not do that.

I hope your not trying to imply that is what country is......

I like the song, don't get me wrong, but thats only country for the wannabes.

No one has yet to display or discus real country music in this thread.

Sure is.....

Country history lesson
Country originally was hillbilly music.
Hillbilly became deragatory term so it became known as country.
That term got stolen by wannabees posing and changing it into country - western - honky tonk - outlaw like that and even worse junk in the genere today.
You cant be pure and hyphenated.....
So now real true country is known as american folk or bluegrass.
If you want real country, thats real country. Everythign else is fake

I'm not a country fan but do enjoy it....

Also... it has nothing to do with the lyrics of a song either... all generes sing about the exact same things. It's instruments, and the emphasis on different sounds that set teh generes apart. Other wise for the most part they all have the same basic musical structure.

Example, here is a country cover band for metallica.

Thanks for the history lesson. Hank marched to the beat of a different drum, but he was and is a country singer that is very respected and influential in country music. I mentioned plenty of "real" country stars in my above post. Any true fans will and do agree with me on that

Thats my point though.
Cowboy Troy is just as much country as Hank was/is.
