supercrew or x-cab...what do i want....?
I've got a 97 x-cab now...and am going to be moving up to something newer in the next few weeks. 4 doors would be nice, but I hate giving up the extra bed space. Someone give me an internet kick in the head and tell me which one to buy.
Hey evilstevie, welcome to the site!
I have a '05 screw with the short bed and yeah, it's okay for what I throw back there, but if you're gonna put a lot of stuff, or a motorcycle or such in the bed it's too short.. unless you leave the tailgate down and use an extender. If I was doing it over I'd get the 6.5 bed.
On the other hand, the back seat of the screws are plenty roomy. I carry 5 or 6 people more than I fill the bed and never have any complaints. I've sat back there myself for a couple hundred miles at a stretch and it's very comfortable. The screws are basically the front two rows of an Expedition except for not being able to adjust the rear seats.
I'd say get a screw with the longer bed.

I've had both, extended cab and supercrew. I prefer the supercrew. Have had three in a row. I don't haul anything big, so the 5.5 foot bed is fine.
One thing you have to take in consideration when you're comparing the ext. cab and the supercrew are the rear doors on the ext. cab that open forward. If you are in a parking lot and have passengers in the back seat you run into problems trying to let them out when parked next to another car/tk. You have to open the front doors first so you can open the back doors to let your passengers out. If you're too close to the vehicle next to you, you'll end up getting stuck between the two open doors. No enough room to open the front doors wide enough and the back doors. Believe me happened to me several time. Ended up letting the passengers out before pulling into the parking spot.

It was actually a 4x2... but it looked sooooo freakin' long. I swear 172.4" just doesn't cut it with the wheelbase of that truck... if you are up next to it, you'd swear it was 200"...
I wish they'd make like a 6 door crew cab with a 8' bed... now that'd be wicked long.
Also talk about a "luxury land yacht"...
