im thinking of getting a ps3 for my birthday and i was wondering if they are worth it or should i get the xbox 360...

 

Ps3s are cool if you like watching Blu Ray movies. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and get a 360 so you can actually play games...

I guess if I dropped that much coin on a flop of a system (so far), I would try to convince myself of that too

sorry, but the ps3 sucks... at best there may be quite literally a couple to a few games even worth playing, let alone buying. It isn't in last place in the console wars for nothing...and almost daily it seems big name game producers that were previously sony only are jumping ship.

Well, dang, I'm convinced! Can't really argue with that strong case you presented- the Ps3 is clearly the better choice! Toss out your 360s folks, the ps3 is better!

 

I have two 360's and no PS3. The xbox360 is great for games but just as good at media. I have a media center PC in my office and can watch anything recorded on it on the 360's.

 

How much coin did I "drop"? No need to convince myself, if I didn't like it I would take it back and get the Xbox...simple as that.

What real world experience do you have with the system that makes it suck IYO ? Being down on the console for not having enough games is one thing, but the games will come, and depending on what you like the games could allready be out there...

my friend got a ps3 and has tiger woods golf and the graphics and the game are bada$$...

i think im going to get the ps3 and its even better since the price dropped $100

 

I'm not claiming to be gamer god, buddy. Open your eyes and face the facts. The Wii and 360 are CRUSHING the ps3 in sales. The game developers are literally fleeing in mass from Sony to Microsoft and Nintendo because the sales figures are so low on the ps3.

What real world experience? I have 3 friends that each have all three systems. One of them is an employee of Sony- who's JOB is to test games for sony. He, as well as my other 2 friends all say they play the ps3 the least of the group, and think so far it without a doubt has the worst games available.

I just played some baseball game the other day on ps3, and my god the graphics were so horrendous I thought I was playing on a nintendo 64 or something. It was unbelievable how bad it is.... the game play, everything was just BAD.

You admitted yourself that the games aren't there for the PS3, and that "they will come." People have been saying and hoping that for a year- but the fact of the matter is no one really knows that. Like I said before, teams of developers that had promising long-standing Sony-only games are going to Xbox instead. So buying a Ps3 in hopes of a couple to a few games that "may" come out, seems pretty foolish...especially at the price they want for that system.

Or, you can get a 360 that has more games already out worth buying than most could even afford. Not to mention Xbox Live IS the gold standard of online console gaming...sorry, but I have no bias, just reporting the facts. I don't even own any of the consoles, and I still know better than to advise someone to get a Ps3....at least not yet. I'm just trying to help the guy get the best console for his money
