I saw one of those in an RC Modeler mag. They're neat looking, that's for sure. Yeah, it's big and slow (I think the top speed was 7.4 mph), but it's more of a replica model like you said than anything else. I'd like to have one though. Btw, thanks for the link to the MT forums.

It is a blast though. My son who is 3 gets a kick out of them. I'll go as far as letting him take control of the steering but not the throttle. He loves going to the races with me and seeing all the different "big trucks" as he calls them
You've got the bug don't you? Good to hear you and your son are having fun with the hobby.

Here's a link to a gallery full of them.

For those of you interested in r/c monster trucks, you should visit the forum at
www.rcmt.net. It's like the F150online.com for r/c trucks.

Problem is, the Mini-Z's used a special tiny radio receiver. I've been kinda looking to pick up a "Parts Car" Mini-Z for awhile now...

Look on towerhobbies.com for spread spectrum (or it might be spelled specktrum), if you're interested.
yeah its great when running with other cars, no frequency flags, thousands of crystals or having to wait to practice

RC Drifting
Who do you think will win?

I know the Jato 3.3 is the most mechanically sophisticated r/c Traxxas has ever built. They're suspension setups are a step above anything else out there. And I know they're fast. I've never ran one, but everyone I talk to that has one really likes their's.

They are crazy fast... My favorite thing to do was to mop a section of the wood floors, do donuts on the wet floor while it dried, then drive on the freshly mopped section. Thing handled like no other.

Ha..ha...That's called driftin' bruh'./ I used to do that at the local slot car track, but I just spit on the rear foam tires, sit my Dale Earnhardt #3 nascar down on the track, pull the trigger, and watch em' burn! Whooo-hoooo! Go Dale! Yeah! Wooo!

The Jato is insanely fast! The 2.5 is fast enough at 50-55MPH top end, then there is also the 3.3 which some has gotten to top out at around 70-72 with some mods. The Jato is a great ST for on-road racing, and with a quick change to off-road wheels and tires it makes for a great bashing truck.

I have yet to see anyone be able to race the Jato off-road though. Too much speed coupled with it being a 2WD makes it almost impossible to control. Some have actually swapped out motors and converted it to a single speed and had SOME success

Here is my Jato 3.3
