Your story reminded me of the time hubby and I met a couple out on the delta for a test ride on a boat (he used to sell boats). The ride was fine and we get out and I'm standing on the dock by the boat with Brad while hubby is a little ways away talking to the couple about the boat. I see this clown riding his boat in but he appears to be having trouble controlling it. He got to the docks but couldn't get it right next to the dock to tie it up and kept going back and forward and back and forward. I ran over to hubby and said "Here, watch Brad I think this dude's gonna hit your boat" and I ran back to the boat and jumped inside just as the clown hit the front of our boat. Not hard enough to do damage as he hit the rubber trim part but I had to shove him off. He said "Oh god I'm sorry!" as he turns the boat and smashes into the backend. I had to run back to the back of the boat and shove him off. WTF???? Hubby was laughing and shaking his head but I was feaking out.

So then dude finally gets up to the dock and ties up. He gets his truck and backs down and loads the boat up on the trailer. He is walking up the dock to get into his truck when his truck slowly rolls down into the water with the boat attached. I have never laughed so hard at that point. Thank God his windows were down and his dog was able to swim out of the cab before the truck fully submerged.

Glad we kicked everyones week off good with this......

Hey RC I know what you mean, we were talking about that saturday while watching people at the ramp. If you ever want quailty cheap entertainemnt, grab a case of beer and head to your local launch ramp........
It's been said many times, and I feel it to be true. People seem to lose all thier common sense at the ramp.
We watched a Dodge get to far in and drop his trailer off the end of the ramp. His bed was 1/2 sumberged. He starts roasting tire trying to get it pulled back up. Black diesel smoke and white tire smoke rolling out of teh water around him. After a few minutes of shredding tires suddenly he realizes he has 4wd and eases it back up.

Actually, I think you might be out more money than Matt and I combined. My trailer is getting looked at tonight by my neighbor, who is also the shop foreman at my work (a Metal Fabrication shop). He said they should be able to bend it back into place no problem from looking at the pictures. He's fixing the bow roller as we speak. And a junk yard bumper won't cost me much either. New tires are getting put on the trailer tonight, and that'll cost me $67 per tire from Costco.

Well.

That means, I'm still the leader.

It still sucks that it happened. At least you'll get things fixed and back to normal.

I'm stil getting prices and trying to figure out a game plan.... mine is going to cost $100 for Gimbal ring at the marine salvage yard and I have to take it off there. Plus $100 for another new prop.

I am going to take it to a a guys house tonight to see if he thinks he can weld in a piece on the anticavitaion plate so that might just cost me the cost of a plate of aluminum. I'm also going to see if he thinks we might could weld the gimbal ring too...... Crossing fingers (X X). If all goes well all it will cost is a new prop.

I'm not counting on any of it though, we may not even beable to fix the anti cavitaion plate, that's $600 new just for teh empty housing, so it'll be a couple/three hundred bucks or more to replace with salvage.......

My French is anything but good but I do know my food, a man has to eat. Pomme de terre is potato in French. Although it is often shortened to just pomme as in pomme frites (fries).

Good luck getting the boat back in the water.

Damn, ya werent lying about the beyond McGyver fixes on this one

But ya sure are right about the boat launches, people sure go retarded at them. One guy drove right over the floating dock and then pulling the trailer out got the fender stuck under the dock

Ok I was wrong, I thought it was spanish, becasue of cheech and chong made the Pome de bomb.... yes it was a potoato bomb!

pomme de terre [ pom duh TEHR] A French phrase that literally means "apple of the earth," but which refers to the potato.

Still, in french, its a potato.
Kind of funny to have a whole phrase for one thing.......

If I was told that "Pomme" means potato then I might could buy that.

We know that
De = The
Terra = Earth

So worst case scenario Pomme De (=the) Terre (=earth) is "Potato of the earth"

Go to any translation page and so far they have all translated Pomme = apple and sometimes adams apple. The french dictionary, even though I couldn't read it shows a picture of an apple.

Pomme = Apple
De = The
Terra = Earth

When put togehter in a restraunt, they are refering to either a potato, or a praire turnip which is similar to a potato. But I seriously doubt thats what the phrase means in this instance.

In context, its just a potato (minus the butter and salt, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm )
I know I'm getting hungry......

Sour cream, bacon bits with loads of cheese or maybe some chili and ketchup with cheese.

Boat update, the guy didnt think we could do it with his equipment becasue it is cast aluminum.... Called my trusty weld shop and he said he welds cast aluminum all the time. Told him what it was and he said he just did one for a guy last month and could likely weld both pices, also asked if I had the missing piece out of the plate. I said no it shattered... he said he had some there he could use. So if it wasnt storming outside I'd start yanking it apart now!

Actually de = of
the = le or la

So the pharse "apple of the earth" would be pomme de la terre. If you translate the phrase "pomme de terre" it will come back as potato.

The lake was named after the river that was damned to create the lake. The river was supposedly and presumebly named by cajun explorers and fur traders. I cant think of why they might would have called it Potato River.
