Well, I'm currently planning on towing the boat to Table Rock Lake this weekend, leaving Sunday morning and coming back Tuesday afternoon. Total of 546 miles round trip, plus any extra driving I do down there.

Did you see a garage at my house?

I have changed transmissions in freezing rain while laying in ice and snow fingers, so cold that they are numb and you dont know if you smashed them or not.

Yea never again!!!!!

Yea I'll give you a call as soon as I get them off and know something. We looked it up and if they are less than 40 lbs I can over night them for $33. I cant drive there and back for that. Also we may check the bus schedule and if you can be at the station I'll box em up and buy one way bus ticket, I just wont ride and send them to you. I have done that before too.

Wife wanted me to ask you if you wanted to follow us to table rock sunday?

Dunno where the bus stop is... Plus I won't be able to get away from work to get it if it arrives between 8-5. And tell the wife that you can follow me to Table Rock on Sunday...

We cant afford the gas (although the boat now has a full tank if no one steals it) but it wont be ready and I'd just be getting the parts. Like I said last time it took me like 3 hours just to get the drive shaft bellow on and get the clamp tightened.

I'm thinking motivation would be more like me coming over there fully clothed with the promise of full frontal nudity once the work is complete...now who's buying my gas for the trip??

Those are simply not options, I have no cash, rubber checks and my Paypal account is empty!! Maybe Brew has some cash, after all we're supposed to be in this together...the slacker...

Hey Matt, you get the boat apart yet? My trailer is being done tomorrow after work... Bought all of the hardware to fix the trailer and the boat... New gas tank, two new bow eyes, and two U bolts for the bow winch... $55

141 posts, I've read them all and I still have nothing to say. I've never been left speechless in my life.

Although I will say this..In no way, shape or form will I take any blame for this. AND....there will be no full frontal, backal, sideal, whatever nudity if you two clowns are within 100 miles of me.

Well got it tore part of the way apart... then ran into a snag. Waiting on brew to send me the instrucitons so I can get it on apart.

Also finding more damage.....
The gimbal ring is not saveable, it is bent and tweaked since it's cast aluminum if we tried to un tweak it then it would shatter plus was busted in a few more spots anyway.......
So new gimbal ring.
Also found that it busted the gimbal.....
One chunk right where it bolts on.... but that could be fixed, but the other side bolt twisted off inside it so would need drilled and probably tapped......
It also bent the upper gimbal ring hing bolt. I'm having a hard time finding that.

I'm so frustrated that I could set a match to it!!!!

Since pretty much the entre gimbal recived damage I'm looking on ebay now and may be cheaper-easier and faster to buy a whole new "used" entire gimbal assembly. Another option I am exploring is finding another hull with gimbal assembly and putting my engine and drive on it.....

I think either one of those may be the cheapest and easist route.

Would it not be easier to just find a lower unit in good shape and swap it out? If the cost was even going to be close it would be worth it to me not to fool with fixing all those parts. Plus you risk missing something that was slightly out of whack and having to do the job twice.

The lower unit isnt bad except the one chunk out of the the cavitation plate which it doesnt have to have, just helps prevent cavitation, but that can be fixed. It's teh gimbal assembly that is all bent and busted.

I thought the same thing that the gimbal plate might be tweaked and I wouldn;t know until I went to put it back together. Or weakended and break later. I'm looking for entire gimbal assemblies or potentially newer hull with out a drive or engine. That I could drop my engine in and slap my lower unit on.
