I need to hit it and quit it....

Anyone out there want to try to quit smoking cigarettes with me? My girlfriend has been really sick for a long time now and the doctor had to prescribe her a very strong medication to which she needs to stop smoking. She never smoked so much to begin with so her transition was easy to say the least. I on the otherhand have been smoking nearly a decade now, but i bet there are some of you guys who have been doing it alot longer. I was hoping maybe to start a thread to see everyone's progress like the one someone started to lose weight. Anyone think a thread is a good idea? And does anyone have some good advice? To be quite honest i dont want to use patches because i dont trust them and they are expensive. We are both still very young and i want to quit before i have kids like my father did also.

Please help me out because besides doing this for my own health i want her to feel like she's not alone.

Thanks,

Erik

I smoke also, but not quite ready. I am down to 4-5 cigs a day from a pack and a half a day for 10 years. I am getting there slowly and everytime my wife rides my case for it, I tell her "I'm working on it!"

Good luck brother, I've tried quitting before and its not easy at all. Best advice I can give you is train your hands to do something else instead of hold a cig. Chew the gum, get the patches, whatever you gotta do. Just get through it!

Damn i really love going to Malboro Country

I have 4 Cigarettes left before i try to quit. I hope someone/s will jump in with me and give it a try even if they last a day or a week. I just figured it could start a little competition or something.

You know what my real problem is? I really want a cig whenever i drive in a car. I dont know why, but i guess my mind automatically sets that way.

OK, I'll jump. I just threw away my last 3 packs of Marlboros. I'm cold turkey as of right now.
