sigs/ photoshops
Right below you foreground and background colors there is a button that when you hoover it says quick mask. Push it then use the paint brush to paint around what you want selected. When you hit the button again then what ever is not painted is selected. I use it after using the polygonal tool.
Effects like my sig are super easy.
That one I created a new project made it 500x100 with transparent background.
Selected the red I wanted for my forground
and the green I wanted for the background.
Selected the first layer, then hit ctrl+a to select the entire work area, then went to edit>fill and choose my to fill with my foreground color.
Then hit ctrl+J to create a new layer.
Select that layer and hit ctrl+a to select the work space again only on the top layer.
Then edit>fill and used the background color.
Then ctrl+j for another new layer and edit>fill and used black.
Then used my pologonal lasso tool to select and make random shapes on the top layer. Once you have a pattern you like.
Then go to select>inverse or (sht+ctrl+I)
Then hit delete
Now everywhere that you had selected the layer just below it is showing through.
You can see green is my 1st layer, red is my second layer and black is my top layer.
It's fun quick and eye catching.

yes it is i have to admit, i have another quick question lol.... say your merging two pics together like any one of the 150 sigs i did, if i want half of one pic behind another and half of it on top of another how to i go about doing that???
You have to cut the layer in half.
Select 1/2 of it then go to layer>newer>layer via cut or (shft+ctrl+j)
You now have 2 layers that are each 1/2 of that image, at this point it's a good idea to link the 2 layers so you dont accidentaly move or resize one then have to reposition it to match up again.
Move them into position and put the layer you want on top, on top of the layer you want it though.

jpeg or png of course gif for animated.
I dont know alot about PNG I just started using it about a year ago and havent really taken the time to research it. But it does look good and fairly small file sizes.

AT FIRST ... I was trying to save all my sigs as JPEG's but the text in the sigs seemed to "blur". I started saving them PNG's.....no more blur.
I do know that PNG stands for: Portable Network Graphics.
That's all I know.

That's all I know.Thats about all I know too, I'm sure it's using some kind of compression I just dont know what.
Same file,
here is a jpeg
19 KB (18,591 bytes)
24 bits per pixel

Here is a png
52 KB (53,061 bytes)
24 bits per pixel
Notice the pixelation in teh red and green in the jpeg...

It's ove twice the file size but still with in reason.
