I do alot of driving around Houston. And I make frequent visits to Louisana and Mississippi. I usually go 5 to 10 over if some one tailgates me I will slow down to the limit the tailgaters usually will back off or pass me. If they continue to stay on my bumper I just turn the OD off and let off the gas. I dont tailgate anyone and I hate being tailgated. I had one idiot hit me when all traffic was stopped including me and he was going nearly 45 on impact and never braked if someone would have been on his butt they would have added to the wreck. Thank god for a heavy duty hitch with receiver installed.

I used to have one of these for tailgate insurance.

Should do the trick.

If you're in the left lane and complaining about being tailgated I hope you die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. In this case you are in the wrong. If you get in the left lane only when passing you will be surprised at how much less you have people riding your ***.

Problem with that one Z, is if it impacts the bottom only, it will rip your hitch off the frame.

i find it much more relaxing by not worrying about other drivers and playing games with them.

Having a lifted truck has been so theraputic for me. I used to get really pissed off at tailgaters, and do crap like brake checks, etc. But now that I can't even see them, they don't bother me at all.

Good point about the left lane thing though, wookie. If you aint passin, get the F out.

OK I'm going to tell on myself here, I really showed my butt a few weeks ago.

I was going to work before the buttcrack of dawn, it was like 4:30am. I'm not a morning person at all. 11 oclock is a perfectly acceptable time to wake up for me. Anyway, I was going down the interstate where the speedlimit is 70 mph. As always I came up on this moron that was trying to pass a semi by going 71 mph in the passing lane.

I was close to him but I was not exactly tailgating. I was further back than normal traffic while in the passing lane. Apparently I was closer than he liked. He had a set of htich lights on his jeep and he flashed them at me, I ignored the first ones. My thoughts are if you dont like it then hit the gas and get out of the way or slow down and get out of the way. Either way get the F#@*! out of the passing lane! There was novody as far as teh eye could see ahead of us..... Well since his first warning didnt work then he kicks them on and leaves them on.
Ok...... hehe So I hide them with my grill. I am so close I cant even see my own headlight beams on his tailgate anymore. I turn on my dome light to insure that when he looks in the rear view all he sees is me and if looks could kill he'd be dead. I'm leaning forward on my steering wheel with a dead stare and craziest look I oculd muster straight into his rearview. At some point he shut the lights off, I couldn't see them to know if or when he did. I didn't care anyway, by this time I'm pissed enough I could ram him and not care a bit. Few seconds and he decided to speed up and complete the pass. I floor it and fly past him then cut so close in front of him that I dont know how my tri hitch didn't scratch his front bumper.

Moral of the story, becareful using white lights on tailgaters, not only is it a higher offense and more dangerous than tailgaiting, you never know when it's some psycho behind you.

So then let me get this straight, someone is behind you and wants to go around; you intentionally move to block then and then speed up. Yet get POed because they are behind you. Let me ask the obvious question. Why don't you just ease over toward the shoulder and let them go around you? You would be happy because they are no longer behind you, they would be happy because they are around you. In my opinion this seems like a win-win situation, both parties get what they want. Except that this does little to alleviate your Napoleon Syndrome.

PS: Keep your hitch in there, brake check someone, I hope they hit you so hard it bends your frame.

I've been thinking the same thing but didn't feel like wasting my time trying to explain the correct method of dealing with people like this. . like I said, they are way too many crazy people out there. Not to mention those people might have a genuine emergency.

If you have an emergency put on your 4-ways. Everyone knows that. If someone's riding my *** and their 4-ways are on, Ill gladly step aside. If not, theyre just a douche in a hurry.

Some POS was tailgating my civic tonight. I kept slamming the breaks but that didn't help. He just shined his brights at me and got closer. He finally got around me, so I sped up and got behind him for several miles at 100mph with my brights on him
