I've been deployed to the middle east (AKA the as$hole of the world) 6 times and been thru transient more time than I care to count. As a guy who's seen alot over there, I offer these observations:
1. Iraq. Nothing good will result in our being in Iraq, nothing. I can't think of a single good thing that has resulted from our being there. Our troops continue to get killed on a daily basis, gas is hovering around $3/gal again, the rest of the arab/islamic countries are starting to turn on us again, etc... It's bad now & I really don't see how it could possibly get better. Is the answer cut & run? I don't think so. Should we stay? I don't see what good we are accomplishing using our current methods. If we were allowed to play hard ball & start stomping the crap out of the insurgency maybe something good could result. As it is right now, US troops are serving only as test dummies for islamic bombs.
2. Israel. I'm not anti-semetic, I simply don't care. Please SOMEONE explain to me why we give the slightest rat's behind about what happens to Israel. Make no mistake, our friendship with them is the root cause of 90% of our troubles in the middle east. Let them and the rest of the middle east solve their own freaking problems.
3. Oil. YES, the war is about oil. If you really think it isn't, you are indeed mentally retarded & need to be committed to an institution at the earlist. For proof of this, one need look no farther than Darfur. I don't care about ANY third world filth hole, non of them, they all suck in my eyes. If the US's resources are going to be tied up in a conflict of any kind, it damn well better have some benefit for the country. That's why we care about the middle east & not Africa. Like it or not, the world runs on black gold. Until they find some in Africa, you can bet your bottom dollar that the US will not care about Africa.
4. Dependance On Oil. It's not a popular subject but somewhere, somehow, someone needs to come up with a realistic alternate energy supply & RIGHT F'N NOW. In my lifetime, the price of gas will hit $10/gal.
5. Military Service. It makes me physically ill to see the video taken at Walter Reed. I never wanted to get rich in the military, I joined because I sincerely wanted to serve my country, follow in my father's footsteps & I wanted to have an aviation career. I don't think it's too much to ask that the government gives the military decent health care if you plan on sending us to places where we get our limbs blown off. Fix these freaking hospitals or stop sending us places where we don't get to fight on a equal playing field.

Sorry, we do have freedom of religion. We just do not have a theocracy. If there were fewer whack jobs, hiding behind the Bible and God in this country, there would be less of a target for the left wingers to take shots at.
