Wordwide Sales for last-gen consoles as of September 30, 2006
Nintendo GameCube: 21.20 Million
PlayStation 2: 111.25 Million
Sega Dreamcast: 10.6 Million as of December 2004
Xbox: more than 24 Million as of May 10, 2006

I don't think I like your tone shorty.

Ok, Ok, Ok.....so the GameCube is a favorite amongst most people, but like I said previously, I like it more then the PS2.

TRUE, the PS2 had better games, and larger selection of games as well, but, I'm talking about the performance of the console itself.

It loads better, saves quicker, and graphics aren't too bad.

What would you advise someone to get that had never been into gaming but wants to try some games. Which unit would you recommend to a novise and would you recommend buying from a place like Game Stop?

DVD royalties?

Who cares about being able to watch DVD's on a game console? I have always wondered what the big deal is. I can watch DVD's on my PC too, but would much rather watch a DVD in my living room. I know a DVD holds more data, but again....who cares....I have no problem with popping in "disk 2"

...am I missing something?

Sure thing.
The next time you are in Athens, stop by the house, and I'll let you take a test run with mine.

That is very kind of you. Not sure when we will be coming that way, been over a year since we went to the farm. Always something more "important" to do.

That, plus many Americans are still licking their Christmas spending wounds, so no extra $600 laying around to spend on a toy.
What best buy?? Frisco??

Heh, you just offered to let a guy come over to your house and play with your Wii.

Sorry , but that joke was to easy to pass up. Carry on...

Oh and on topic, I would say this new version of the 360 is one to watch. Sony's mistake was trying to force Blu-ray on everyone by making it part of the system. Keeping it seperate would have broutght the price down quite a bit. I like the way the 360 handled it. Since I dont have the tv capable of using HD its money I dont need to spend. But when I do finally get a new tv I have the option of buying the DVD player.

Just IMHO for what its worth. For now though playing with the Wii is alot of fun....

Later,

Luis S

That's a result of the smaller game size 'cuz its crappy 1.8GB capacity. Graphics were on par with the PS2.

Yup, get the Wii. Game Stop is cool to buy from. If you do get hooked on games you can move up to the big boys later for the really bad **** games.

Your missing that this was August 2000 when the GC was released. DVD players were not in every home like they are now. It was a huge bonus that the other systems could play them. Just like the whole HDDVD/BR crap now. It's a big deal. Plus with the X-box you could pop in your favorite CD, rip it to the hard drive and play your own tunes during games instead of the pre-loaded music. A very nice feature! I'm digging the BR player I now have and have considered getting the x-box HD-DVD add on.

Well, that was the year 2000....Most people have a DVD player these days, why is it so 'important' now? It's just added BS to the console.

Give me a console that loads games super quick, saves even quicker, and has the games to back it up. Graphics are nice, but after about 20 minutes into the game play, the graphics aren't even noticed anymore. The story, length of game play, challenge, and replay value is what makes a great game.

*DONT GET ME WRONG* I am a graphics person too....but it isn't a priority to a great game.

DVD players are not important, but HD-DVD and BR players are. Nobody has them, just like the DVD situation of 2000.

I don't have any issues with the load times on the 360 or PS3. Saves are fast to the hard drives as well. Plus I can backup my stuff quickly onto memory cards and archive them on my PC. I'll never lose a game again! Woo-hoo!

I also demand my eyes be dazzled. Great game play but crappy graphics don't cut the mustard for me. I demand both.
