Thanks all,

We are safe, luckily we heat with wood, so we have heat, many are not that lucky. They have shelters open for those, but they are running out of space there. Ourbiggest concern is really water. Belive it or not, the fundamental source is running low. The water company announced on the radio that we have about a 2 day supply if we use it conservitively.

They are also telling everyone not to expect service til tuesday maybe wednseday.

The town is also out of kerosene, and gasoline is getting scarce. Many stations are out.

Tomarrow I've assemebeled a crew of volunteers we are going to grab the chainsaws and start clearing roads, what we can safely, so the utility crews can get through and do thier job. I had to move alot, drive over and through alot of down trees, limps and debris just to get around today. I'm sure lots of new scratches on the old truck now.

Wow Matt, sorry to hear of your difficulties. I thought we had it bad but I guess it could be worse. We had a cold water pipe freeze up Friday night, got it thawed and everything's ok there. The worst was this morning, our power company had some issues and we ended up with a power spike that hit 142v then dropped down to 135v and stayed there for 2 minutes...we lost 2 surge protectors (stuff that was plugged in was fine) but our sub-woofer, which was plugged into the wall (my bad) is totaled.

That does suck Rose, I just happened to wake up 15 mins befor the power went out. Soon as it did I ran back and threw the main breaker so we dont get any spikes when it does come back on.

Well the winter storm is over now temps are juast dropping. It's 25 degrees right now expecting to hit zero tonight sub zero with wind chills. So far our county has not had any fatalities. We hope to contunue that trend but with folks with no power and sub zero temps I'm afraid we wont after tonight....

People here are pretty dependant they would rather huddle in blankets in thier own home, than go to a shelter.

Well just in for lunch, guess we'd better get back out ther and chainsaw some more. It's like an never ending battle, you clear road, look back and a tree has fallen across the road 100 yards behind you. It is dangerous, we have down power lines we are cutting around, we are trying to maintain communication with utilitlies to make sure we are not working around hot lines but the risk is there. Not to mention we are slipping around on a sheet of ice while stumbeling though tangeled branches with chainsaws in our hands abd hte risk of a tree falling on us. Any prayers for safety for me and these guys would be appreciated,

Sounds like extreme fun in my book. I would gladly trade places with you. We never get any good disasters around here. Yea I am a little crazy.

Heres a few shots from the back door. Nothing better than fresh powder on pine trees!!
