Can Men and Women Be Friends?

I say no...

I mean, we can end up being friends, but that's by default. I don't think any man sets out to be friends with a woman. I've had a few femal friends, but they were either classmates I grew up with, or girls that I made a wrong move somewhere with, and ended up being labled, "Friend".

Most of the men I know, agree, but there's always a few that say yes, man and woman can be friends. Friends with benefits, maybe...

What do you guys & gals think? Beyond an online forum, can men and women, truly be friends?

I think they can be acquaintances, but not friends - at least not the type that hang out all the time, talk about personal issues, etc.. Whether either is willing to admit it, its classic rat in a cage syndrome. Stick a female rat and a male rat in a room long enough and they are gonna want to start doing it. The only difference is that humans arent as honest about it, so they'll secretly want it, fantasize about it, but never made it known until it becomes akwards and friendships suffer.

Coming from a female point of view, YES! I have several guy friends that I am just that, FRIENDS. Never had any other relations other than "friend" either. I prefer to hang out with the guys. Women are too competitve and dont play well with others..... That is also one of the things that I make very clear to a new BF, I will NOT give up my guy friends to be with them. The friends came way before the new BF and will be there for me when I need them. And yes, we talk about personal issues as well as sports and cars and movies .

How did we make it this far without talking about Ladder Theory?

If you haven't seen this site, check it out
http://www.laddertheory.com/

Since I can't post the ladder image due to profanity, I'll post this image

They probably want you, whether you've known them for a week or 20 years, no matter how good of a friend they are. See above theory .
