I have several male friends. If any of them have thoughts of something other than friendship, they have never given me the tiniest hint of it. One of my dearest friends is a guy I grew up with, our mothers were best friends and we've spent lots of time together all our lives. There was never anything sexual about our relationship, we're just very close friends.

Besides that, what I said was that we give more attention to the jock for their accomplishments on the playing field than the guy trying to find a cure for cancer.
That's a very linear line of thought...

I'm sure some of the doctors and medical researchers are former athletes. But, if you can make millions or hundreds of thousands for playing football, why not? Who gives a schyt if they don't cure cancer? None of us will likely cure cancer either, and Hell, with mllions if not billions spent on research over the years, the freaking doctors haven't cured cancer either. They probably won't either, they'll come up with some kind of cancer control, that can kep it from killing you, as long as you tke this pill 2 - 4 times a day for life. ($$$)

More money in treatment than cure...

Besides, football players don't get credit for trying to score a TD, they get credit when they score.
So, when the docs stop trying, and start scoring, they'll get their props too.

Don't know of any. Can you prove that noone doing cancer research has ever played football in high school or college?

"If" you had said that, I would have agreed with you.

Prove a negative?

Funny but that's what I said

"The only real problem I see with athletics is when we start to make heroes out of people simply because they throw a football better than someone who may be the next Hawkins"

Who cares whether some jock decides to cure cancer? The exceedingly important topic at hand here is completely unreliant on running back bio-chemists Perhaps some of these med school grads should redirect their studies to gain a better understanding of this Ladder Theory. This is Nobel Peace Prize material here!

You should have stopped there. You're wrong about athletes being stupid. Some are. Some are given grades to keep them playing. Most are not. Argue on if you like. You'll be just as wrong when you finish as when you started.

Obviously you can't argue anything without putting your spin on what others said.

I hate the friend zone with every fiber of my being. I too have been labled as a friend which means, "I think your a great guy but honestly you'r a puthetic looser". Now all I want to do is find the guy that she chose over me. I don't want to beat him up, I just wish to rip out his heart and feed it to him with a plastic fork, before his brain has a chance realize that there is nothing left to pump the blood. That's just my opinion. And wishes.
