Talking Why women shouldn't drive trucks...

I seen a lady at work today in our parking lot. She had this NICE new diesel Ford F250, but it quit on her when she got in the parking lot. Why? Because she filled the tank full to the top with unleaded gasoline!

A few of us were going to help siphon the gas out of the tank, *but wait* since the truck was a newer one I guess Ford completely redone the way the gas goes down into the tank so that it's impossible to siphon out (for theft reasons.) So anyway she had to call a tow truck to come over and they had to have it towed into the garage where the mechanics would spend some nice time manually getting at the tanks so they could drain them out. I forget all what they were going to have to do to get the gas out, but it sounded like a mess. I'd royally hate to see the bill for that one...!

Oh yeah, and before they had it towed away her husband showed up. They weren't talking to eachother and were quite a distance apart. I bet he's not going to let her drive that rig again!

My wife drives my trucks including the lightning, I have had to bail the odd one out of the impound yard or send to the body shop. But at the end of the day it is still small potatoes. perhaps he ( the upset husband) will realize this.

There are much bigger and nastier things in life than the wrong fuel, at least she went to fill the truck and not return it empty.

just my thoughts.

My truck is MINE not my husbands. . .I know where the gas filler cap is located, I know what kind of fuel to use and I know how to fill it!! Obviously that woman is a total bimbo. I mean really, if you can't figure out you're driving a diesel simply by the rattle if nothing else, I'm sure there is a big obnoxious sticker someplace inside the fuel door that says "Diesel fuel only" (since I've never owned a diesel, I am not sure of this) I take it the woman has the IQ of a Gnat??

In this case, I think you are being very kind to her.

Very intelligent people can sometimes make very poor decisions. Common sense is definitely not the same as IQ.

Common sense has more to do with intelligence than memory, probably the current intelligence measure. Common sense means you think about something before you do it and usually get the right answers. Memory says I put gas in my other vehicle, so this must use the same.

I think the real question is why didnt he fill the tank when he gave her the truck. When ever my wife and i switch vehicles i also go fill my truck so she doesnt have to worry about getting gas. And since like said before she probably puts gas in her car not deisel.

Did you guys hear the one about the woman who couldn't get in her Lexus, because the remote keyless entry fob wouldn't unlock the door.

I hope that was a joke, and that we as a society haven't degenerated in our thinking to such a level of intelligence, that we've forgotten keys can do more than simply start the car.

Well, my wife actually owns the F-150 in our family; I bought the first one, she bought the rest... (Who knew she was serious about wanting a truck? But, I ain't mad at her! Besides, she lets me fix it up, drive it, and put gas in it!)

Truth be told, she can only drive it well, in "D". Put the selector in "R" and all bets are off. Every dent & ding in our 2001 F-150 was attributed to, that's right... The wife. The scratches down the tailgate from the garage door. Right again!

I'm like, "Baby, how can you do such a bad job at driving this Ford, and parking, when you drove Hummers, and CUCV's in the Army? Remember having to back in a shelter carrier, with a trailer attached, into a small spot, between two vehicles, and get it dress-right-dress?"

Her reply: "F- you"
My reply: "When?"

All in all, she does OK. She did better with my Expedition, than with the F-150, which is why she essentially stole my Expy from me, and I ended up in the truck 90% of the time. She's just as good as any other truck driver when it comes to forward movement. When you want to see the uncertainty principle come into play, put the selector in "R", and get out a lawn chair.

I can't leave the fellas out though; I have a colleague with a big, bright, red F-250 Crewcab, diesel. Even with no one around him, he has to pull up, and back iin 3-4 times to get it between the lines... "Maybe"

We tell him all the time- "You knwo you bought too much truck, when it takes you 5 minutes to park it."
He doesn't like that too much.

Aren't the nozzles on the fuel hoses different sizes to prevent this type of mistake? I have only ever had gas vehicles, so please don't think I'm a bimbo or anything. I've never had reason to pull the hose out to check.

You should mosey over to some of the diesel forums and read about all of the MEN who also mistakenly fill their tanks with gasoline.

I would have said the same exact thing if it was a guy. Stupidity is not gender specific.

I don't understand how that can happen...

First of all, the nozzle handle (on most diesel pumps) is green, secondly, it's larger than the opening... In an absent minded moment circa 2000, I grabbed the diesel handle, and was about to "fill 'er up" when I noticed the nozzle wasn't going into the fuel "thingy".

But, now that I think about it, that wouldn't be a problem going the other way, since the nozzle is larger on the diesel- making the gas one go in easier...

Dang, I need to stop, all this stuff about nozzles fitting, not fitting, going in and out, is making me....
