I kinda like it. I don't want to get out and pump my own gas in freezing cold, snow, sleet, rain, unbearable heat, etc......plus, i could break a nail.

I never can get used to someone else pumping gas. Every time I'm in Jersey it's just an endless source of fascination. I've been pumping my own here in CA for so long now that I can't imagine doing it any other way (although, my first job was when I was 14. A family friend owned a number of Mobil franchises and he gave me my first job, pumping gas. We not only filled your car up, but checked the oil and ATF, washed the windows, and checked air pressure in tires. THose were the days). About four or five years ago I totally forgot they pumped gas in NJ, I just got out of the car and started pumping my own gas (just habit). Damn! The guy who worked there went ballistic! You'd have thought I killed his dog. Now however, I just pull into the Hess station and let the guy fill it up while I run into the minimart and buy bottled water. LOVE having someone else do it (even though it feels weird). Wish it was mandatory here.

Quote: . . .Only attendents can fill up gas tanks in NJ.
Oregon is the same way, I hated it because they usually hire idiots that dribble gas down the side of your vehicle.

Kobi,
Be careful of what you ask for......

Let's see, 22,000 gas stations x 3 islands x 3 shifts = another 178,000 illegal aliens demanding $15.00 an hour under the table. Our fuel prices are already too high.

Well, on the surface that would seem to make sense, however, I happen to be in New Jersey at this very moment. I got back to my hotel about an hour ago. Right before I got here I stopped to fill up my car with gas.

It was pumped into my car by an attendant. (Wait, that doesn't sound right . . . whatever, you get the idea). So here I was getting gas for the car, and manual labour is in the equation here, however the price of the gas is about 40 cents a gallon LESS than it is back home.

How does that happen? If he's was making 15 bucks an hour it certainly wasn't reflected in the price. And if the price reflects any of his pay, then in relation to fuel prices back home, this guy was paying to work at the gas station!

Hey, us people in NJ know how fill our tanks up, but most are just lazy. I live in NJ and about 95% of the time, I fill my tank up. I hate the guys who do not round to the nearest dollar or to not top the truck off. Also when the dribble gas on the side of my truck.... Just my two cents...
