Just think, that crop could represent thousands in tax revenue for the government and a decent income for the grower.

Instead the bust will result in no benefit to society and the final cost of prosecution and incarceration will be far in excess of the value of the crop and any imagined harm to society.

And the law enforcement people involved will most likely go to a bar, enjoy their drug and slap themselves on the back and drive home under the influence.

Ain't America great !

What do you think was the first clue something was going on, in that house?

The $3,000.00 monthly electric bill might be the first clue.

Doh!

Depends on the state laws regarding utilities and reporting. I had a cops watching my house in Ames a few months after we moved in, I have an extensive collection of planted aquariums that utilize high wattage lighting AND CO2 and I sell the CO2 equipment and lighting to other hobbyists. Our electric bills were about 6 times what the previous tenant had, plus I'm registered with local emergency services under HAZMAT laws and ordinances because of the CO2 tanks and other stuff I sell.

I actually hoped they'd try a search or something, I'd love to show them my grow op. On the other hand, I have an eBay customer whose ID is konabud, they've bought several CO2 systems, oddly the equipment does also work in hydroponics, but I'm sure konaboy is growing lettuce ...

That's WAY advanced, sorta cool to see the rows of plants, but DANG, lots of money & crime.
Wonder how they were able to transport stuff in/out of there without looking too suspicious.
Quit simple,
Back in to the garage, close garage door, open farm door, load up, shut van doors, burn one or two, then leave.

Doh!

The guy probably tapped some lines illegaly or used a magnet to slow down the meter.

The stench could have been one of the reasons.
I noticed he had tubing to filter the air.
Just before harvesting, the stench can be pretty bad, I have heard.

Although in the basement, heatseaking cameras could have picked up the enormous heat from the lamps.

That reminds me of that one day it had snowed here, some time ago.
They flew over the area with a chopper and wrote down all adresses where the snow had melted from the rooftops real quick. BINGO!
