Maybe you could ghetto-ize it a bit like that Taurus or whatever it was you had before.

Will be my next beater when they get older and cheaper. Right now they are still a little too new for me. Definately will be an "upcoming" good beater car!

Nice car! I think the Album Name is a little messed up. That is definately not a '64. More like a '74 Mustang II.

after thinking about it and reading this thread, I should just drive this one like I bought it to use it. I'll just invest in a front end bra or something so I don't have a billion chips and bugs stuck to it everyday. I know people say sometimes a front end bra will do some damage, but it won't do as much damage as without one would cause.

I mean the 80,000 miles I will be traveling for the 3 years won't be that hard on the engine since it will be all highway miles with the cruise set most of the time. Mine as well get my money out of it like a few others here have said.

Thanks for the advice and tips!

No one mentioned an old escort? We had two of those the first few years we were married and they were very reliable. I agree that putting miles on the mountaineer won't matter much, but if you could find an old escort for cheap, that might be a little more friendly with gas mileage.

I better get 500,000 out of it! LOL I didn't get ripped off on it though, they have a few on the lot same year yet, with more miles going for more then what I paid for mine yet, so all in all, I did good with the price, even KBB has it listed for over 21K yet.

I rented a focus and what a pile of crap it was. Could have been a base model but I heard the new ones are better.

The new Focus is a very nice car. The original poster won't find one for a grand though..unless it's in the junkyard

Focus, ick...If Mountaineer is still paying on the Mountaineer, It's a foolish move to spend the coin on a beater...good rule of thumb, if your going to spend two to three grand on a car, when you owe more on the one you have, pay off the one you have, than get the beater ....

I want to keep this thing young and going strong for at least 8 more years, so putting that kind of miles on it this early won't make it last as long as I'd like it too last
wow, now i see why you need to come here and ask about what type of car to buy....

you got robbed!! how old are you? you've typed some crazy things on this post bro......wheew

Here in Western NY they use a salt/sand/liquid mix on the roads. Up in the northern parts of NY( Adirondack Mts.) they use salt on the major roads and mostly sand on secondary roads.

That's really surprising because I just checked on KBB and even if you use the Suggested Retail Value option and Excellent shape the highest value that they have is $19,500 and I added Leather, Premier and Moonroof.

The Private Party Vaule is just over $16,000 and the Trade-in vaule is $13,900.
