I need a beater car...help me decide what car is best?

The job I have for the next 3 years requires that I obvioiusly drive back and forth to work. 55 miles there, and another 55 miles back, grand total 110 miles a day just to get back and forth to work.

Devide that up per week is 550 miles, per month is 2,200 miles, per year is 26,400 Miles just to get back and forth to work only! Over 3 years that milage will be 79,200 miles to only get back and forth to work.

No way am I going to put that on my Mountaineer on top of 43K it already has. 79,200 miles over 3 years is just to work and back, not including anythign else I drive too, so over 3 years I would have over 150,000 miles on this Mountaineer including miles it has on it now. I do not want to do that at all!

I want to buy a beater car to rack the miles on, but I'm not really sure when it comes to beaters whats a decent car that will last for what I need it too? Anything on the Ford line of cars that decent??? Nothing over 1K I want to spend on this car, I can care less how bad the body is, if it runs good and is dependable, that I can take it. I just want smoethign to rack the miles on instead of my Mountaineer, so what would be a decent kind of car?

No Hondas or Toyotas allowed

A Mountaineer. Why even own it if you are not going to put miles on it.

Just drive it until it dies and get another one.

Its a bigger waste to have a car that sits in the garage that to have a car that you put alot of miles on.

You dont want hondas but a used Civic would be your best bet. American compact cars dont have the longevity that the Japanese compact cars do.

I don't want to rack the miles on since I just bought this SUV and have 5 more years to pay for it and its already 4 years old, so I want to keep low miles on it instead of having all that miles on it and having to put a lot of work into matance on it with payments lasting another 5 years.

Foreigns not an option as you can't have foreign cars on the job site (union work) I mean the guys tear the crap out of foreign cars if they see you drive one to work, they slash the tires, brake the windows.. ect.. It has to be American

Yep. My 04 F150 has over 45,000 miles on it. It had 2 miles on it when I drove it home. I bought it to drive.

no, no ones from around here to car pool with. Most of the guys that will be working there live close by over there as I'm 55 miles away. Busses do not run out there or trains you can take.

Basically the Job is right next door to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky Ohio (anyone been there before)?

Sounds like you need to find a new job.

Hondas are more american than most american cars these days but the good old union boys wouldnt know that.

Get an old f150.

Sounds like a bright group of people....buy whatever you want and glue some ford or chevy badges on the thing....doesnt sound like they'd be able to figure out the difference.
