Kat did good. I wasn't happy with Paris at all. Kellie sucked (as usual). Taylor, Chris, and Elliot did great.

(These are just my opinions)

crappy song selections this week... I liked Katharine's performance, Kellie's was totally mechanical.... very bad song for her... Paris--- eeh.... Ok... again, not a good choice for her...

Elliot, decent singing, but again, bad song choice. Chris, when he wants to, he can sing. He may have finally figured out that he doesn't have to screach and scream all the time... too bad it took until the end of the song to show us that. Taylor: Excellent as usual. I thought it was a great song choice for him, and completely disagree with the judges. I thought his was, by far, the best performance.

Of the six that are left, whose record would you consider purchasing? For me, Taylor in a heartbeat. Chris, maybe if he actually sings instead of screeches, but the rest?? Probably not....

As someone who can appreciate classical music/opera, I really would have loved to see more of the duet Katharine was singing with what's-his-name.... That would have been nice.

Oh, and WTF is wrong with Paula.... Elliot's performance moved her to tears, but she wasn't impressed with Taylor??? WTF is wrong with that woman???

I think everyone should go back and listen to each of the contestants best performances on mp3. You'd be extremely surprised how much of a difference it makes to listen without watching. Elliott and Katharine are "by far" the best vocalists left in the competition. Most American Idol voters can't get past the superficial bs long enough to judge true talent and thats why 2 of the last 4 seasons ended up with a dud for an idol. Like Simon said, this is a singing competition.

Prime example: Listen to every one of Taylors performances without watching his dancing and spastic quirks and then tell me how good he really is. He's in the top spot strictly based on his personality alone. His vocals have been terrible throughout the competition minus maybe one or two performances. He's just not very versatile.

That poor Kellie Pickler girl is terrible. Yeah, she's pretty and dumb as a stump but how she's made it this far is nothing more than a miracle. Just goes to show how the voting and eliminations should be left up to the judges and not the American public. After all, those guys make a hell of a living scouting and promoting artists and are trying to sway the public towards the best singers.

Off my soapbox now.

Wait a damn minute.....

Did I hear dealerjim say Taylor Hicks should go home?

I am gonna have to say HELL NO!

Taylor Hicks isn't just a performer. He isn't fake either. That distracting twitching thing is his way of "feeling" the music. He feels music in his SOUL. It isn't an act.

His voice is unique, which is a good thing. I love to hear Taylor Hicks GET DOWN. His twitching might be a distraction to some, but to me that is his way of feeling the music and letting go. I cant dance a lick, and wouldn't even try, but lets just say I had a good voice, and I wanted to let my feelings go while singing.... I would prolly look like that too. Also, keep in mind, he has no formal singing training either. Remember "Takin' It to the Streets" by The Doobie Brothers, THAT WAS AWESOME ! ! !

Ok, so lets say he has a slight case of Tourettes Syndrome....and still has the ***** to get in front of the world and do what he loves to do. I am gonna have to say I would admin him for doing his thing. Now, I am not saying he has tourettes, I was just trying to open some eyes and see that Chris isn't the only person on the show with an awesome future....although I think Chris is a GOD, but that's beside the point.

If I had to choose who is gonna win this thing, I'd pick Taylor Hicks. Chris is going to make it to the top with ease, Taylor Hicks may not, and I would go out and buy one of his albums right now.

Anyway, I think I need to go out and smoke....and I don't even smoke anymore, but I think I might just have to start again.

<breathe, exhale, breathe, exhale>

This is the second time I posted this...and it was fun both times.

dealerjim.....what are your thoughts on Chris Daughtry? Can you think of anything negative to say about his performances? I am only asking because he's my favorite.

Hey Jamz....what did you think of Chris' performance last night? I think he was awesome as usual. Perfect song for him. Paula should have been "crying" at that one.

I always like Chris' performances. Paula is a geek, but she sure does have a nice set of hootie cans....but that's it.

He edited his thoughts on Chris out of his post. They weren't favorable. I don't know what kind of music dealerjim likes; but, Chris and Taylor don't impress him. I think those two are the most marketable talents on the show. Elliot and Kat have great voices; but, have no clue where their strengths lie.

When you talk about crazy twitches, makes me think of Joe C0cker. Now that dude has some crazy twitches. Guess that is why he is called the Mad Dog Englishman. Man, i do love his music.

I have been for taylor since I first heard him. I am still pulling for him.

Chris gets on my nerves with his singing from the neck, but he did do very well last night.

I did like kat last night, usually don't.

Elliott reminds me of some cartoon figure.

Kellie needs to be smacked around and put back on fry detail at mcdonalds.

I like you.

I liked Taylors version of "Takin' It to the Streets" by The Doobie Brothers. That was some good chit.

As for Chris...I'd really like to know what you mean by "singing from the neck".

Elliot reminds me of a cartoon character too. BUT, if you listen to him sing, and not watch him perfrom, you'd be impressed. That's how I learned to like him.

McPhee is just smokin' hot. Her main problem is she's good and knows it.

Paris....the girl can sing, but she needs to focus on school, and then worry about being an "Idol".

Kellie....I couldn't have said it better myself bud.

Sorry, I'm at work and just didn't get to finish the post. I personally like rock-n-roll and I think Chris is great in his genre. But, the AI should be able to sing more than one style. There's no doubt Chris will be big no matter how he does on AI. I'd go see his band in a heartbeat because I love that style of music but I don't want to hear him sing country, soul, disco etc.

Paris is a great singer but she's still young and doesn't quite no how to control that powerhouse voice of hers. She's gonna be big some day but I'm not convinced she's ready yet. I also love her personality.

Back to Taylor. I'm not saying I don't like him. He's very entertaining but he falls under the same category as Chris, he's not versatile. When he's out of his comfort zone, his vocals are karaoke at best and he tries to over compensate by going crazy on stage. I would really like to see Taylor perform in concert singing the songs he knows and loves. Maybe it's just been his song selection or something. Just haven't been impressed with the vocals whatsoever.

None of the contestants are perfect by any means. I've got every performance from each of the top 8 performers and could listen to Elliott and Katharine all day.

Last night when it showed chris practice singing on the floor so he would sing from his abdomen instead of from just juggling the music is what I was talking about "singing from his neck". Imagine dino on the flintstones barking, or a tire spinning and getting some wheel hop while spinning going on, that is what chris voice reminds me of sometimes. Not saying he can't sing, because he can. I just don't like that aspect of his voice. Does that make sense?

I have to say that chris did sound different laying down. He had a deeper tone wich I think suits him very well. If you coud learn to loose that more. The guy has a set of pipes.

I will agree to the versatility point, but I ask how many HUGE singers could get up there with these guys and perform evey song well, or even most songs. There wouldn't be many. Phil Collins is about the only one that comes to mind right away, and I even think he would struggle with country week.
