Need a Truck -vs- Want a Truck

I don't know how to do a poll here, it would be interestig to capture votes the old fashioned way. But, if you guys/gals will answer honestly, based upon your current lifestyle- not the lifestyle you aspire to (I plan to get a boat one day), please post your answer to the following.

1.) Do you need your truck? (Would you simply be unable to do everything you normally do today, with a passenger car.)

2.) Do you want a truck? (You could get along just fine in a car, but you like trucks, so you bought a truck.)

I am a member of the want crowd. I just liked the way the 1997 F-150's looked, and in 1999 I joined the club with my Amazon Green, 4.6L 4 x 2, SuperCab F-150.

It has come in handy a few times, but did I need a truck? No...

Then again, with all the post-Army weight I've gained, maybe I do need my truck, for easy entry. But, being a fat-boy aside, no- I don't need a truck...

How about you?

Need or want?

I do haul on occasion, nothing heavy, just some trash to the dump, furniture here and there. So I guess, yes I do need a truck and yes I did want one.

answer: I need a truck.

I use it for work (residential construction work) and for my boat (I already have).

I started with want. Then I bought a fixer upper house and went immediately into need. I couldn't have done a remodel on my old house without the use of a truck. However the 4x4 was still a want and never quite turned into a need. Next truck will be a 4x2 (with a blower). That will be a little of both, want and need.

X2

I have needed a truck a number of times when I had my car. Finally said, "skip it, I am getting a truck."

No, as long as I have a tow hitch to pull my atv trailer with.

I don't use my bed anyway, just for grocerys and luggage.

Need.

Since I work on cars, I need something I can haul parts and tools and whatnot in. I also need something capable of towing my trailer when I have to go get a dead car.

So basically, it is more then a commuter Mon-Fri. It takes a full sized truck to haul you around....is this correct, sir?
