thats where the 10% of people don't need a truck, the other 90% so far needs one.

Its always nice to have a pickup anyway even if it you didn't need one. Its just knowing that if and when a time ever comes you need a truck, you got one and don't have to worry about renting one.

The neat thing (or not) about owning a truck though, whether you really use it or not, is that you quickly become everyone's bestest buddy. This friend needs help moving, that friend needs to haul some junk to the dump, that friend needs to get some lumber to add onto his deck, that friend needs help bringing his shiny new big screen TV home...

Good job, gold star for you.

Actually, I was asking honestly...
But if you read between the lines, all this "occasionally", and "sometimes" stuff, really means.. No, I don't...

Hell, if you asked my wife if we NEED a truck, she'd say yes too... But, actually, we don't...

I'd probably regret getting rid of both, if we did though... You never need it, till it's gone...
But we dont "need" to own a vehicle of any kind at all; to continue living. We don't "need" a house to continue living.
Do you need a cabinet full of groceries?
Do we need electricity?
Do we need running water?
Do we need internet?
NO, NO, NO, and NO

The only thing required for us to continue to exist is a slice of bread and 8 oz of water a day.

So what's the point here?

I guess the answer to you question then is... NO! I would indeed continue to breath if I did not have a truck.

If you are asking if I use my truck... then the answer would be.. YES I do.
Could I accomplish the same task with another type of vehicle. Not with just a vehicle by it's self; it would have to have something else (IE trailer) to give it the ability to do the same work that my truck does.
Is a truck the best tool for me for most of the jobs I ask of my vehicle. Yes it is.

I wanted a truck, so that's why I got it. In fact, I doubt that I'll ever even haul anything in its bed or tow anything with its hitch.

What I NEED is a new Mustang -- so much so that I can feel it down to my very soul! I need it the way Starsky needed Hutch, the way a ying needs its yang, the way a newborn baby needs its mother's milk...

Ok, so maybe I don't need it that much -- but I do really want one!

I need a truck For work, I question the work I do to justify the truck, On the weekends, I'm a moving warrior for some one looking to move a deep freaze, ect, I would prefer to have a old rust bucket for a truck and a Chrysler 300 C, Or a impella SS, Or a old boat of a car....three days with out driving a pickup and I would be back on the wagon....

It was just a question, counselor...
A question that didn't NEED to be answered, if you took offense with the question...

But, if you wanted to, then that's fine too...

After your reply to moutaineer then I thought maybe I had mis understood your question when I first replied...

Just wanted you to have accurate information for your survey.

I didn't mean anything by it.

I probably could do without a truck, but it sure comes in handy when I go hunting. I could probably get along just fine with an SUV or some other similar vehicle. I don't think that a car would cut it for me and since trucks are cheaper than SUV's, I will stick with a truck.

Even though i'm still in school and only work on the weekends and after school sometimes I would hate to try and pull a 1600 gallon water trailer or a trailer full of cotton seed with a mustang. I could live without a truck but it wouldnt be easy. Actually if I had to choose a car I would probably pick the nissan maxima, 300C or a charger unless I could get my hands on a roush mustang or an 07 shelby cobra mustang. If I was out of school I would say yes but since I'm still in school and going to college next year I would say no I dont NEED a truck but I really like it.

I guess I need my truck... I don't use it for work, but I do haul a lot of fire wood, tow a trailer, and use it to go hunting and fishing.

I want a truck. I don't think my truck does anything a utility trailer couldn't do. In fact I use the truck to pull a utility trailor. I use it as a truck less than 5% of the time. It is nice to drive though. Comfortable on trips with great leg room.

Now why did you have to bring this up. My 97 which I've had since new is running fine. Not a thing wrong with it. (I'll probably throw a rod tomorrow). But I have been eyeing the 2006 4x4 XLT F250s. That's overkill for me but I got a few excuses ready for my wife to justify it.

I've had a truck for over 15 years now. Even though I don't need it for work I'd be lost without it. Lumber, furniture, trash, motorcycles, mulch, masonry supplies etc etc.. I couldn't imagine what I would do without it.
