diet iced tea doesn't hurt, and if you want you can put a little splenda in it.

Jamz, try some diet doctor pepper or some coke zero both are okay. I wish you much luck and you will whip this in shape quickly and overcome..

4 shots to the belly a day

I went to see the doc yesterday, and for the time being (30 days) he wants me to take insulin shots. He cant determine if I have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes because of my weight. I am not over weight, but not under weight either, and that's due to the amount of muscle mass in my body. He just wants to be safe instead of sorry.

I take a shot of Humalog before every meal, and another shot (forgot what it's called) before bed. The shot before bed should help regulate the high glucose for 24 hours and the one before meals helps regulate the meal I am going to eat.

My diet ROCKS ! I am eating better now, then when I did before all this. I am still only drinking water during this 30 day "experiment". The doctor told me only water, but my dietitian said the same things all you said was ok to drink, but ... better safe then sorry. I will stick with water for another 30 days, then see what my doctor says.

Exercise. I am not to do anything strenuous till I see him again. I can tell you this, I have tons of energy again.

This is my first day on insulin, and I feel 10 times better. I was told that by Saturday, I will feel even better. I cant wait to see how I feel Saturday.

Thanks everyone for their input and help. You guys are the best.

going to guess that your once-a-day is called lantis.

it runs its course over 24 hours, and runs evenly over those 24 hours (it does not peak or have a bell curve in its activity)

the humalog runs its course in around 4 hours, with a very pronounced bell curve. its very fast acting, and what nice about it is that you can take it pretty soon prior to a meal as it kicks in that fast.

you are doing the same thing that i do.

i have had this for 37 years.

when i was young i felt i was indestructable, and didnt take care of myself the way i should have. for the past 15 years or more, i have. i think i am holding up pretty damn well for having this for this amount of time.

if you want to b.s. about this let me know and i will install yahoo instant messenger or something so we can do so.

James, glad the doctor's visit paid off and you are feeling better. Sounds as if you have a great attitude and will stay on top of this thing. Good luck.

Thanks Jim.

This may sound kinda messed up, but I think this is what I needed to help keep me grounded. So, in a way, it's a good thing.

I am taking this thing head on. I am making a diet plan for each week, testing every 4 hours (before and after meals), and I cant wait till I can start to exercise. I have tons of energy now, and I haven't felt like this in a long time. Who would have thought that the reason I felt like chit from day to day wasa because I was a diabetic.

It's a whole new life for me, and I think I will be a happier person now. No more beating people up in the parking lot at Rudy's.

Thanks man. You can email me. I only have MSN and it's used for work. I am still learning the ropes, and any positive info is greatly appreciated.

Good to hear that you are feeling better Jamz. You are really taking a heads on approach to this and with your positive attitude, you should have a handle on this in no time.

lrhogfan,

That stuff worries me.

ROCK ON, JAMZ!!!

Whatever type it is, stay on top of it... Take care of injuries you may get(to your lower extremities, especially.). The way I put it together is:
Blood flow to the legs is usually greatly affected and causes wounds to heal less quickly, sometimes resulting in infections, and ultimately... Like my dad, gangreen and amputation.
