That video was too cool. He made one helluva pass, but got a really crappy launch.... Needs to work on his racing skills IMHO.

That's just awesome though....
can't link to the pics, unfortunately.... mods? A little help in here? Thanx!]

Amazing.... looks like a grenade went off in there!!!

he definitely needs to learn how to shift.

When my motor comes apart its going to be alot more dramatic than that.

Little harder on the clutch and a little less gas on the shifts from second gear on and he'd probably gain a few 10ths and wouldnt have been pushing the boost in the high RPMS. But he said that he made 35 passes so that says something for who ever built that motor and lasting that long being drivin' that way.

Personally I dont clutch to shift in a race. Barely lift the gas. That's why I go thru transmissions, not engines.

That's just it though: Mazda built that motor... it was bone-stock internals. I guess technically it still is bone-stock internals.... they've just been rearranged a bit. ;P

He was running 35lbs of boost on a stock engine???
Wonder why it let loose then??
That thing might would have ran 20 seasons or more with low compression pistons.

No, IIRC, it was 35 passes he'd made since turbocharging it. Normally made 400Hp at 18 psi, but was running 25 psi on that last run.

FWD + Drag Racing = Stupid...

Did I miss the memo??? When I was a kid, having a big block something or other was the thing you aspired to. Nowadays, the kids want a Civic with a 6" tailpipe??? No wonder I don't understand kids these days... I'd rather have an 87 Monte SS with the stock 305 than ANY FWD econo box.

KC-10 FE out...
