The only way to stop this is don't idle.
Keep moving at all times so the fumes can't affect the engine.
For your own safety don't breathe while you are in the vehicle.
Don't plan any trips farther than two minutes away unless you were once an olympic swimmer.
Tritoneer, can you not take a hint? Your dealer is as sick of you as we are. Every time you approach with yet another complaint, they either quote you an outrageously high price for the repair or else they pretend like the problem doesn't exist. Take a fuggin hint, THEY DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS!!
BTW, when you find a new dealer to work on your POS rattletrap, do yourself a favor and don't go into a 20 minute explanation of every problem you've ever had with the truck, and your previous truck was a lemon also. The only thing this does is to warn the dealer that YOU are the problem, not the vehicle. You will never be satisfied regardless of what they do or how they do it.
Your current dealer is sick of it and is trying to overprice you enough to make you want to look elsewhere. I bet that if you wanted to trade the truck in on a new one, they would charge you full markup and not give you squat for your trade.

Made sure the brake pads were tight, and they were, looked around the wheel well and slaped around things making sure everythign was tight, and it was until I got to the rear just past the rear tire where the gas pump is. I noticed one of the twist ties were broken off that hold 3 big rubber hoses together leading down where you fill your gas up at. I noticed one of the hoses were leaning againest the inside body and if you taped on it slightly, it made a thump againest the body, so I took a twist tie, and startred to pull it away from the body and twist tie it back together with the other 3 hoses.
ha what do you know, that was the problem all along! I don't know why the noise went away with the brakes on, but I'm guessing that when the brakes are on, the braks get rod of a lot of vibration through the truck which could have casued that hose to beat againest the body. Make a long story short, one twist tie solved the problem not no stupid tie rod that dealer said was loose and replaced! I hate throwing money out the door like that
jeez... this issue you had last week wouldn't be the root cause, would it?
I thought your vehicle was in the shop being fixed after your accident? It wasn't drivable and had to be towed to the shop? They couldn't work on it until after the insurance adjuster looked at it? I just looked up your accident thread and was dated 12-2-05 and you stated the accident happened that morning. I have some serious doubt that all of this occured and it got fixed in less than 6 days. And now you have a whole new accumulation of problems? Come on, get a F'n life. Why do you get on here and just make stuff up? Are you hurting that bad for any attention that you have to get on the internet beg for pity?

J-150,
a twist tie replacement I know for a fact would not cause these problems? Theres history from the 02-05 explores/Mountaineer having these issues with them, and mine still has issues to be worked out. The biggest issues explores/mountaineers have is the rear ends failing and trannys blowing which in my case is the same way so far.

It doesn't take them long to fix after they got the okay from the adjuster.
No paint or anything was needed? They just slapped some new parts that just happened to be painted the correct colors on your vehicle? They didn't have to order even 1 part? No bumper brackets for the bent up bumper? They had the tie rod in stock too? They didn't have any customer vehicles in the shop before yours that they were already working on? If you get that kind of service, WTF are you ever complaining about that dealer for?

They did order a new fender and front bumper, plus fog light that will be installed tomorrow after they took awhile to ship. I don't know where your from, but even when I had an accident with my F-150 getting rear ended, I was in and out of that shop in 3 days, after a new rear bumper, trailer hitch and some brakets. This took the longest out of all my accidents so far.

all thats missing at the time is fog lights?? what the deal about taking it to a shop to have to rear trim replaced after they wanted to charge me 400 bucks for it? its only missing the fog lights and I already paid my 500 deductable. all they have to do tomrorow is pop in the fog lights and be on my way compleatly

then why did you buy one? you have the worst "luck" with cars. Why go out and buy something with known problems dumb azz. Maybe you should be banned again since you obviously are starting back to your old DA ways.
ps. GB150 makes a great point.

I did not know of the history of the 02-05 explorers/mountaineers. It was until I started having problems with it until I did some research on it and read another fourm reading stories of people who have the same problems as I have.
You would think the best selling SUV in america would be a little bit better then this, and is the main reason I brought it due to how many people buy it.
