OK, I can't find my Bible!
Hmm that's wierd.

So did a little research online and it appears I was mistaken there was no tree in the chritmas story.
Also appears that Kobi is correct in the fact that it is first documented in Europe in a famous play put on in 1592 BC. It was called the paradise tree which was a fir tree.

But here is where it gets really wierd...
The play was a depiction of the first humans. Supposedly (Adam and Eve) Apperently supposedly there was a paradise tree in the garden of Eden.

In representation of this paradise tree people started decorating it with apples, to represent the worlds sin. Then a light on top representing the light of God. Later AD wafers as in communion wafers were added to represent the flesh of Jesus and sweets for some unkown reason.

I found this on a Christian forum and 5 moderators were discusing the viability of this claim. 4 of the 5 seem to find some bases for it as possiable truth.

The other mod and some members seem to think that it was some dude in 1592 AD that was walking thru the forest and admired the moon light dancing off the snow on a fir tree branches. He then decided to take it to the house to show his kids and try to recreate that momemt for them by placing candles on it.

Then yet others say...
That that same dude was actually trying to explain the trinity to pagans and used a fir trees triangular shape for a visual aid.

Then yet others say that it was part of the Pagan Winter Festival.

Now I say, what ever you belive. Then that is what it is for you and yours and that is what it always shall be. No one can take that from you.

So
Merry Christmas
or
Mary Christ-mas

I wish good wishes for you all! What ever you celebrate.

Ohh BTW
let me throw in Saint Nicholas too!
:santa:

(There is another debate, with in the dabate, with in the same topic)

However, the star on top of the Christmas Tree does represent the star that the wisemen followed to see the baby Jesus. :santa:

I don't care who came up with the idea for a tree. Though I have some bad memories from after my folks split up, I do have some good ones of going out with my dad to find the family a Christmas tree.

I don't have a tree in my house this year. My girl would like one. I said that I would be ok with a tree in the house as long as it's one that can be planted in the spring. She's ok with that. We've tried it before but couldn't manage to keep it alive till spring. We'll have to work on that.

I actually find it strange that although I'm not religous, I am offended by people who want to take away our countries traditions. I think the consumer part of Christmas has gotten way out of hand. If we could have it be more about family than material things, I'd feel better.

You know, I'm so glad to be a part of this F150 Online community. I'm bombarded with the nonsense the media calls news. Asking a question like the one I've asked here shows me that there are actually still a lot of good people in our country, who have good senses of humor. Thanks!

Merry Christmas!
