My wife has a 19-2 that's currently inoperable for whatever reason. It's goingto go back to the factory for the 3rd time to see if they can unscrew it. I think it's just been shot slap out, but man what a shooter it was! Needs a new cylinder at least. They already reamed the throat and reset the barrell, reset the pawl for timing and something else. It has the sweetest trigger of them all. My GP141 fells like they never cleaned up the machine marks and left over flashing from the investment cast parts. Feels like sand in the works on DA, but it gets the job done. That's why I compare it to an old farm truck.

I have a Kimber Ultra CDP for carry (need leather for it) and a Dan Wesson Pointman Major that I picked up a while back. Love them both.

I still rarely see minorities at a match, except for maybe the national silhoutte matches that are attended by several very good and top notch mexican shooters.

I haven't been shoting much bullseye the last few years, my 1911's are not my friends. i can make master easily with the 22 and the Cf portion, but that damn 45 keeps me in the expert class. I have tried different guns, different loads, but nothing works well for me.

Ideally I would like to have a 45acp built on the S&W 686 frame, but after talking to them about it a few times, they tell me it isn't possibly.

I have a Taurus 45acp revolver but the Taurus handguns just aren't made as well as the Smiths and the Rugers.

You got to like to shoot to be into guns. I guess a lot of minorities don't see what you all and I see. I recall one day I was casting some bullets, and one of my lady friends came by. I had two lyman pots going and working with 4 bullet molds. The doorbell rang, and I hollered for whoever to come in. My friend looked like a movie star. After a couple words, she said "are you going to do that all day", I replied "yup".. (smile) Wasn't nothing getting in the way of me casting my 45s, and 38s for the up coming matches and practice. I use to get on the phone and was on first name basis with Hensley and Gibbs who make bullet molds. I slugged all my barrels and would call RCBS and have them make me custom bullet sizeing dies.

Things have changed a whole like in the form of laws. I recall one day on the way to the range, I had to stop and pay off some traffic tickets. Into the courthouse with my pistol case, with 2 pistols, 3 boxes of ammo. Paid my tickets, nothing said, everything normal. Today, I better not even think of such a thing. In fact, I recall one day I wanted to shoot so bad, and no transportation, I jumped on the street car with a 22 rifle in a case, and rode the bus out into the country just to do some planking.

I had a hard time being a minority, a liberal and a gun nut all at the same time. (big smile) In fact, I think the year was 1969, my girlfriend and I were walking downtown, and a TV interviewer ask me some questions on gun control. Lo and behold, when I shot off my opinion, and with facts, I was on TV! (smile) At the next pistol match, I was a hero. Mind you, this was 1969.

If I find time away from these addictiing motorcycles, and now trucks, I might get back into shooting. But, there is not enough time. I love to handload, and to do it right you have to take your time. Not enough time. I am trying to learn how to take hairpins at the racetrack on my motorcycle and that takes all the attention I can spare. But, there is nothing like squeezing them off and hitting the targets. Oh, by the way, I use to love the Charlie Askins, and Elmer Kieth battles, and I was a student of Cooper, hence I am a 1911 freak.

My 45 scores were just a shade under my 22 scores. Most of the time I would have the 5 1/2 barrel on the Hi Standard Military. I must admit, I sandbaged a long time in the expert class. Shucks, a lot of shooters were doing that, and then letting it all hang out at the big matches, such as at Perry. You would always see marksman shooting master scores at Perry.

I learned a lot at Quantico. Hanging around the service shooters, they were not only coaching me, they were servicing my weapons too, for a much smaller fee then civiallian smiths.

Look, let me stop, I can go on, and on, and on.

Good shooting to ya,
