F150, are you accusing Lance of doping?

Scott
"what will the TDF be like when there is no Lance?"

It sounded like that.

You should have written this right away.

"I'm simply saying that I don't think there will be the drame of someone winning it year after year after year again. When will a guy come back from the dead to win a Tour, let alone most likely seven in a row. There is so much drama and expectation that has come in the last seven years with Lance dominating, to Lance almost losing the Tour, to Lance crushing it last year. The Tour will always be great but I don't think it will be the same without Lance."

And No , I am not accusing him of doping.
I really don't want to mess with someone from Texas.

Unfortunately it has been a fact that doping was common in the "Peloton" in years gone by....Actually you were considered an outsider if you didn't use some form of "enhancement".
It was simply accepted that if use the of drugs was questioned everyone would close ranks and deny it.
Of course we are talking about days when the range was much more limited and the ability to test for drugs marginal.
Nevertheless that is what killed Simpson...see my previous post.

Today of course any rider who takes drugs is more than likely to be found out and hopefully the wonderful performances we see are not "Enhanced".

If any one questions what I have said then I have to admit my age and say I was well into road racing in the early 60's....though conversely I have never once seen or been offered drugs myself, since as a mere club rider I was on the periphery of major action.

Lenny, What a beautiful piece of art! I can't believe you would actually ride it. The lug work is magnificient! I have seen several Hetchins in my time, all functional art. I own several bikes (see sig)but none so fetching as yours. I have been trying to talk my brother out of his pride and joy. He has a Quinn that the master Harry himself built before he died.
I don't hang at the KR forum much. Still feeling like an outsider with my inferior lariat. I do check in from time to time to lurk and catch up on things.

Lance, what a ride today, I saw parts of it while dropping my oldest boy off at Carolina Soccer Camp this afternoon. I will watch the replay on OLN soon!

Allez!

Thanks !
I do ride the Hetch on the road when the weather is good, but mostly use it on my training rollers.
Are your bike pics in your gallery...?
It's late Saturday night here and I'm off to a car rally with one of the MG's tomorrow so I'll check back then.
Haven't heard mention of a Quinn for ages !!!

Hey Len. Good to see you back

Have to take issue and say that the finest ever English bike was the Mk 1 Raleigh Chopper.
I bought one of these in 1972 for the grand sum of 29.99 all saved up from my paper round money. Quite a lot of money then.
This was the coolest bike in the sheds at school and naturally a total fanny magnet

Yep, 3 gears on a little mini Hurst type shifter

You can buy them new again from Raleigh. I might get one to re-live my youth.

Sorry for the thread hijack Serotta.

Sorry for the thread hijack Serotta.
No need to apologize, sometimes the hijack is the most interesting part of a thread.

Len, I have a couple of bike pics posted in the gallery, but certainly not all of them. I might get around to it one of these days.

MG rally in Texas? Are you just talking a show, or an honest to goodness rally? I haven't tried a rally in years. Used to love seat of the pants classes.

Just watched a replay of the TT stage today. Lance is really looking good. A minute or more on all the GC hopefuls already and the bonus of not having to defend the yellow jersey early on.

Hey Adam,

Dug up some old stuff.
That's me and the "Easy Boy" probably around 1973 or so.
Make was not Raleigh but Sparta.

Lance took the Yellow Jersey today after the Disco team won the time trials.

Zabriski crashed

Go Lance

What a competitive team time trial. So now Lance has the lead, and lo and behold, little Georgie Hincapie is 55 sec. behind him. The rest of the GC hopefuls are all over a minute back, with some two and three minutes back already. I wouldn't be suprised to see Lance relinquish the jersey, too much effort to defend it for the next three weeks. He can reclaim it in the mountains.

I think he's going to keep it and win by the largest margin in history... just as a final "screw you guys, I'm the best" send off...

Well, that's what I would do...
