Anyone miss the NHL yet??
NHL stands for National Hockey League? I thought the H stood for Hooters.....
Seriously, though, I never attended a hocky game until somebody talked me into going to see the Macon Whoopee (SPHL, I think) about 7 years ago. Since then, they've been replaced by the Macon Traxx, but they are not doing very well financially down here. I really don't understand why they are not doing better than they are, since it seems to me that the hockey is the perfect sport for a bunch of rednecks (I'm one, so I can say that word). Think about it, they sell beer at a large venue with lots of good looking women afoot, watching a bunch of guys beating the crap out of each other with sticks. The only thing that could be any better IMO is if the players didn't wear all that protective gear!
With that said, I don't get much exposure to the NHL, so I don't miss it at all. I agree with those that say that the players are only hurting themselves in the long run since most of your average Joe's could care less about a "salary cap" for people that are already really close or into the 7 figure range......
