Maybe the reason we think that Europeans can't protect their own countries is b/c most of Europe had to live under the protection of our nuclear arsenal and military forces for 50 years so that Soviet tanks didn't come rolling in. Maybe we feel big b/c we had to go in and stop genocide in Bosnia despite the fact that the UN was against it and the French were content to allow ethic cleansing in their back yard.

The reason Europeans don't have as much say as they would want in world events is b/c they are basically pompous, blustering, do nothing slimy politicians. John Kerry wasn’t right for this country but he still had twice the intestinal fortitude and resolve of most timid, cowardly European leaders.

I forgot, we only go to war for oil. We just *****-nilly invade any poor country we like. Maybe be invade the ones that harbor our enemies and flaunt that fact and the ones that defy 12 years of UN resolutions and refuse to come clean about their stockpiles of weapons and jerk around the inspectors. But no, it must have been for oil but that’s what the rest of the ignorant, jealous, fearful world thinks. Maybe Europeans support scum like Saddam as long as he funnels dirty money to them in the form of bribes and oil and buys as many of their weapon systems as he can afford. Oh yeah and that’s while they agreed to sanctions on Iraq.

We must support Israel b/c we just want a foothold. If we just wanted a foot hold it would be much easier just to support which ever Arab country was the mot pro-American no matter what they did, and then maybe the Arab world wouldn't hate us so much. Maybe we support Israel b/c they are a people who are fighting for their existence against many who would see them exterminated. Maybe that’s why we give them aid, so they can defend their right to exist. Oh yeah, why was Israel created... maybe it was b/cc a bunch of vile anti-Semites in Europe wanted to exterminate them and the rest of Europe was content to watch. France rounded up a lot of Jews and handed them over the ***** after they capitulated and decided to collaborate.

 

Does anyone ever wonder why people around the world hate or distrust us so much? I wonder if it has anything to do with the government controlled news outlets that many country's are limited to. Fox news is banned in Canada for Christ sake. How many socialist countries are going to present a balanced view to their people. People here that spend time in Europe often comment that the Europeans don't like us. Is it any wonder when everything they know about us is filtered and spun by their own leftist or socialist governments... Or from our own leftist media groups. CNN is the big American news outlet around the world. Most people here agree that CNN leans pretty far to the left in their agenda; so, they don't help our case much either.

Has anyone noticed that many of the people from around the world, that have ever spent any real time here in the States, have a better opinion of us, and understand our general benevolence as a nation. It's amazing really, considering the preconceived notion of the USA that they often arrive with.

At the end of the day the US government are bullies, nothing more, nothing less. Also the US government is the only country ever to have used a nuke on civillians.

Israel is another mistake of the western world, who is the US, UK and co. to say who can or cannot illegally occupy palestinian land. Its not there country, it is the palestinians, why do these people hate the US so much, for no reason? You are blind to see other peoples points of view beyond your own borders.

That's true; but, to be fair, we did drag our feet about helping our allies fight a very important battle in the history of man. A lot of grief could have been saved Europe, if we had recognized the true threat of **** Germany and acted upon it. It's funny that the roles are somewhat reversed now.

 

Anyone who thinks that the Soviet Union would not have overrun Europe in the 50 years following WWII if they hadn't had to worry about the reprisal of the United States of America is just delusional.

Would you like the United States to unilaterally take care of every nation that needs to be slapped down all at once? Sorry, even we don't have that much manpower. Maybe we'll get around to the other places that need it, or maybe the rest of the lazy a$$ world could get off their butts and intervene in those places if they feel it needs to be done ASAP.

With regard to Israel, sound like you might not like Jews too much. Doesn’t surprise me, anti-Semitism is still rampant in most of Europe, that’s why they love the Palestinians so much. They should both be able to live in their holy land and it seems for my perspective that the Israelis are more than willing to try and compromise, its the dirt bag Islamic terrorists that want to cleanse the holy land of the Jews and the general Palestinian population doesn’t seem to mid the dirt bag terrorists messing up the peace talks every time they do. I'm sure the Israelis would be more than willing to share if their security wasn't threatened by scum who like to blow up busses and restaurants.

With regard to the use of nukes, maybe not the greatest moment in our history but as I recall we had just finished securing your continent from hostile forces and we had to look to our own security. That was a horribly brutal war in the pacific and an invasion of Japan was going to awful for all involved. If the UK had had access to nuclear weapons do you think they would have used them to force Germany into submission? Basically we just bombed German cities into rubble with conventional weapons, same difference, it would just have taken less bombs with nukes and would have saved the lives of a lot of British and American bomber crews and maybe even some German civilians.

I generally like the British, but you sir just annoy the heck out of me. I don't hate Europeans or people from the rest of the world; I work with Chinese, Indians, Germans, ukraians, Vietnamese, and some British too. They are all good people. What I do hate is the arrogant assumption that the American government is out to screw over the rest of the world as priority one. Maybe they are just trying to what is best for American citizens and if they **** off the rest of the world, so be it, that's too bad. I don't think that the rest of the world, you included understands a damn thing about the point of view inside our boarders. Harsh reality check, we are the world's most powerful nation so like it or not the rest of the world has to deal with us on our terms. It's hardly a new phenomena, and its not just America that been guilty of it.

By the way we'll never gain near enough from the war in Iraq to make up for what has been spent in terms of lives and money. I don't see any cheap oil flooding into this country.

Gotta disagree with you on that one, Burt. Almost half the people that voted in this election went with Kerry. It scares the hell out of me that that many people would vote for such a sorry assed candidate.
