Gas Prices?
Just payed $4.16 for 91 octane (thats premium over here in Commie-fornia). Thats was last fill up, and I know my truck is sitting at home, already on E... ****ers !!!! Its rediculous and something has to be done.... just don't know what.
ya they both do pretty good, and being a partner at a Mercedes shop, i figure I should drive a Mercedes at least once in awhile. but I use my truck to tow a samurai and go off roading as much as posible, gas prices are finally starting to cut into my fun, and is something I have to consider before heading out for a trip. I can't go for pleasure cruises as much any more, no more long drives out along the coast, just different things like that. I am not spending nearly as much money other places, trying to save for gas. I have customers saying the same thing, and I think it is really begining to cut into the economy, especially the travel industry. Some say gas may get as high as $5.00 a gallon around here by late summer. Its rediculous and they really have us by the *****. What can we do ? Not driving is NOT an option. The oil companies ARE the government (for all intensive(sp?) purposes) and there is nothing that will change. Ok, stopping before I rant too much more.

This is BS for most of us here we just get hit in the wallet and rethink taking day trips ect. But for some others they have to limit food on the table so mommy and daddy could buy gas to get to work. That just sucks and the Gov. and gas company are making billions in profit.

^^ yup, I have one customer telling me she has dropped a prescription med in order to pay for gas, so she can get to work, to pay for her other meds.
****ty situation for some, horrible for others.

I was considering getting rid of my Expedition. But when I factored in the trade-in loss to what I owe (since the SUV markets has dropped off), it will take me 3 years just to break even on the gas I will save with a 25 mpg mid-sized sedan.
So for now, we are keeping her.
Also, for those contemplating beaters cars that get 25-30 mpg, make sure you do your homework. To get a decent beater, it will cost you $1,500 - $2,500 or so. Depending on what you save on gas, it may take a couple or more years just to cover the cost of the beater car, and that's not including any repairs that will always pop up with a beater.
