Father went with a Sti, but Lightning came in second!

My father, whom just got back from Iraq (Contractor), needed a new auto.

After much deliberation he went with a 05 Subaru WRX STI. (with my influence). We almost went with a 04 Red L but the stock power seemed too slow after being use to my 99 Lightning with a few mods.

Its unfortunate but the Stock power and AWD of the STI reined supreme!

Hey L-menace....FOCK YOU buddy. The guy just got back from Iraq...while maybe not directly defending our Country...he certainly had a part in it. It takes a set of bolls to make a comment like that....weather you like cheney or not, or agree with why we are over there...it is your duty as an American to stand behind and support the INDIVIDUAL, be it soldier, airman, marine, sailor or even contractor. If it was meant in jest, I'm sorry for jumping down your throat, but it was still in bad taste...if you edit your post, I will edit mine, and we can both go on happy!

Unoid....cool, that should be a fun toy...hope he lets you borrow it. And give my thanks to your Dad for going over there!

(edited to fix spelling)

My dad was part of the lead WMD disposal Team. He was over there for one year. He had government clearance and was treated with the same respect as equal to a marine Captain by all the soldiers and the commanding colonel.

Thanks for the comments (good ones). High Five to Whip. and I dislike the spoiler also but the hoodscoop is very functional for the darn intercooler

cheers!

Glad he got back safe. My friends dad is a "contractor" in Iraq as well. Im a little confussed though. How was he respected like a captain. Aren't all officers supposed to command the same amount of respect (minus butter bars )?

First Purchases

I've got an STi myself, as do a couple other board members. Fun cars

The first couple mods he needs to do are ...

STi "pink" springs $389
Cobb AccessPort $600
Downpipe $200-600

The latter 2 mods and a decent driver will easily put you into the 12's.

Nathan, Thanks for the info.

I read about the Accessport, It looks like a good mod.

I havne't seen a whole lot of Scubby tuners. SPT looks like a carebear program or what?

What exact are the pink springs?

You guys are going to love the Sti. I am loving mine. Just tuned to a 301whp/297tq on mine. Mods are UTEC, APS exhaust w/cat, Blitz intake. Next step for me will be a turbo upgrade and front mount intercooler. That will put me in the 425-450 whp range. As ugly as it is the wing is actually functional. Stock it's speed limited to 155mph which it hits with ease. Find a local tuner with a 4-wheel dyno and let the games begin.

The "STi-Pink" springs are the factory performance/lowering springs. Great mod. They are slightly stiffer and even up the fender gaps.

www.nasioc.com

Great resource for info.

The SPT/STi factory parts are great quality, expensive, and generally mild. The aftermarket rocks for these cars.

Turbo XS
APS
Cobb
Hotchkis
Perrin Performance
GP Moto
Whiteline

and many more.

Congrats on the fine purchase, I just bought a 02 Lightning to complement my 04 STi: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hreadid=162244

If you need a good Subie online club to join, I reccomend clubwrx.net. Nasioc.com tends to be filled with crapheels and dumbasses.

You guys have good taste!
