Best of both worlds

Hey guys, I'm back from the dead! (former 2001 L owner, lost in a tragic accident) I just purchased a 2002 L this weekend to add to the stable, but had some rivalry issues with the other beast that I own:

Eventualy, I got the kids to settle down a bit and pose for a few pics:

The crux of the problem is, I can line em' up but I can't race them both at the same time!

Welcome back, nice L , like the color and nice car also. I'm not sure about 1/4 mile but the other night I pulled an identical STI, same color in FT Lauderdale FL from 60mph about two car lenghts and I'm only armed with cat-back and K&N air filter, but I'm sure a little tweaking here & there and that blue beast of yours would really be flying!

The STi's mods are light. It has a Blitz SUS filter (stainless mesh ) and a manual boost controler installed currently. Bone stock it ran a 12.98 in 56 degree weather in houston, and with the SUS + MBC it ran a 12.9. The ECU in these cars dosen't like mods very well, not to mention they are very expensive to upgrade. You think Ford is **** about mods? Go deal with Subaru service. They'll want to void your warranty if you change out valve stem caps.

So, the STi's are very, very quick off the line, 1.7 60' are very common with good drivers. They will kill almost everything from a dig, but once they get going the AWD tends to sap some of the roll-on power.

I live and work in the Katy area, and I garage my STi at my grandmother's house, in the 288 South / Almeda road area where my mad inventor shop is located.

Welcome back. Quick question. I you could have just one, would you keep the L or the WRX? Does the Subaru have a comfortable ride? Just curious, never riden in one.

Well, the regular WRX's ride is not too bad, but the STI is just cruel. Think F-150 vs. SVT F-150 in terms suspension difference. It's a go-cart. The Potenza's are really stiff in the sidewall, too - there's almost no chassis flex, either.

P.S. The STI is Subaru's "SVT" division. The Impreza WRX STI is a limited production run vehicle, only 5,000 are imported per model year.

If I had to choose between the two, the STi, it would be hard. Stock, the STi is a whole second quicker, AWD, handles like a razor, sticks like glue and the brakes are fabulous. The L is less expensive to maintain, less expensive to mod and is more roomy.

I had a choice, and well, since I couldn't decide....
