Bush gets campaign boost
Bush gets campaign boost

Ralph Nader has announced he will be running for president as an independent. The last time he ran, he got 100k votes in Florida. The majority of those would have gone to Gore. Bush won by 540 votes. Nader got 22k votes in Vermont. Bush won by 7000 votes. If Gore took either state he would have won the election.
Any ideas what is going to happen this time?

I don't think he'll get anywhere near as many votes as last time. He's not got any afiliation with the Green Party this time and most people who are center/left want to get AWOL Bubbya out so bad, he won't factor in very much.
I expect the GOP to run some ads for him though.

Well let’s also not forget how many republicans votes were lost due to the state being called for Algore before the polls closed. The pan handle got screwed because of the national news opening their big mouths and making the WRONG call to begin with.
The liberals are getting more frighten as the day draws near. The democrats don’t have a chance because they are still using their 40 year old play book, gloom and doom, nothing positive, nothing original, and nothing up lifting.
The problems with their doom and gloom are that their own party created it to begin with. Jobs lost overseas, thank Clinton and NAFTA. The intelligence agencies not being able to do a better job, thank Clinton and other left wing liberals like Kerry for doing all they could to gut it and make it sterile. The military being stretched beyond its capabilities, again thank Clinton and other left wing liberals for doing their best to gut it for other social programs.
I am willing to bet that ol’ Ralph is just in it to give the democrats a reason for losing, I can hear it now ”Well if Ralph hadn’t been in it we would have won, sniffle, sniffle, sniffle, it just ain’t fair, sniffle, sniffle, sniffle”
The democrats had their chance to steal the election and failed in 2000 they lost the state of Florida even though their liberal buddies in the main media called the state for them.
And, every time the ballots were recounted by numerous different liberal organization they came up with the same results President Bush WON Florida and Algore lost it big time even with all his little buddies named chad…

2. There was also Vermont

Can you save us all a lot of reading and just put links to other threads where you have said this all a thousand times already or perhaps just put ditto marks? We will know what you mean.
Is there a way to ignore all posts by a particular poster?

sirket, I think you confused Vermont with New Hampshire.
(Gore won Vermont by 30K)
As far as Nader goes, it depends on if he can get on the ballot in Florida or New Hampshire.
There are really about 10 states where he could be a spoiler, as he said in the interview about forty states are a lock one way or the other.
Besides FL and NH, the states to watch are:
Iowa,Maine,Michigan,Minnesota,Missouri,Ohio,Oregon ,PA,
and Wisconsin.
Nader could swing it to Bush if he establishes himself in any of those states and dips into the democratic candidates' votes.
It is pretty much agreed that a Nader voter would more likely be
a Democractic vote rather than a Republican all other things being equal.
Nader tried to say the 97K he got in FL was offset by by Bushs' losses to Buchanan but, Buchanan only got 17K (and most of those were old people in Boca Raton who voted for him inadvertently).
His entry could make it close, without him I see Bush getting hammered by either Kerry or Edwards. When I look at MI, OH, PA
and WI what comes to mind is (1)Jobs (2)Jobs and (3)Jobs.
Looking at the numbers again, I see West Virginia on the table too.
There are 10 states that have gone republican every presidential election since 1972.
No state can make that claim going democrat.
(Just DC)

I didn't realize there was an ocean between the US and Mexico and the US and Canada. I guess I could be mistaken.

However, what does that have to do with anything?
EDIT:
Ahhh, I see where the confusion is. I should have stated NAFTA and other trade agreements by the Clinton administration. My apologizes…

correct me if Im wrong, but I thought the original US/Canada FTA was Reagan and the NAFTA (inluding Mexico) was Bush Sr?
Clinton was behind the Americas FTA that included South American countries.
