correct me if Im wrong, but I thought the original US/Canada FTA was Reagan and the NAFTA (inluding Mexico) was Bush Sr?

Clinton was behind the Americas FTA that included South American countries.
I would have posted those inconvenient facts, but, coming from me it would be some sort of horrible liberal lies and propaganda.
Coming from you, it won't get any response 'cause it must be true and the truth hurts sometimes.

No actually the truth doesn’t hurt because the truth is good. Yes, absolutely the republicans are behind, well for the most part there were some against it, but were for NAFTA.

Now, if I remember correctly, though Bush Sr. was for NAFTA it never came up for a vote while he was in office. It came up for a vote towards the beginning of the Clinton administration and Clinton himself made statements about Rush Limbaugh being a “great man” because of course Rush too was for NAFTA.

Perhaps my original post was a bit misleading and if so I apologize for that, I do know who the major supporters of free trade and NAFTA are and it is the republicans and many, but I don’t believe a majority of democrats.

I was simply using the argument that that Clinton (democrat) administration was the one to put NAFTA into places as well as some other “free trade” acts (I can’t tell you just what free trade acts in particular because I am not sure).

Anyway using the argument that Clinton was the man in charge with a good amount of democrats in both houses that saw passage of NAFTA and now the democrats are trying to pin NAFTA and other free trade acts on President Bush as if he was the one to put them into place and for that matter to be the first President to promote America workers best interest in the market place by promoting free trade…

Liberals such as Kerry are too quick to open their mouths before actually looking at what their parties had done or sponsored. You could also argue that the democrats had 8 years to “fix and correct” any free trade acts they thought were not good but yet they didn’t…

And to my good friend arrbilly I would ask anytime you think I am wrong or have stated something incorrect please feel free to correct me, or at least challenge me on it, that’s what good debates are all about.

my bad for not including a conclusion with my points.

Republicans AND Democrats are equally responsible for current Free Trade agreements. At the end of the day, the dealmakers, regardless of political affiliation, are rich lawyers with rich friends and it is in the best interest of their friends to outsource labor.

But just to make some arguments....

Reagans and Bush rammed Free Trade down our throats (with the right wing Conservative party in Canada).

Clinton gave us Free Trade with 3rd world countries ( along with the left wing Liberal party in Canada)that the US will always maintain a trade deficit with because they can't afford to buy anything.

Hope both sides are happy now...
