My short opinion is I see no problem with it as the ACLU would, or should completely back the idea.

After all this is a liberal backed idea, put people into different groups based on race and then set different goals for each one, pitting one against the other, making one more of a victim class compared to another. Liberals and their institutions such as the ACLU have always been for this so I figure this “white’s only” is perfectly acceptable to them so what the hell…

Personally until you treat everyone “equal” in this country which means NOTHING based on race or heritage then this “white’s only” should not shock anybody at all, especially those screaming for affirmative “privileged” programs which are indeed “racist” and “race bating” agenda’s…

Well, that's pretty much what I was thinking (I was thinking in layman's terms though.)... If you can't beat 'em, join 'em...

I'm still waiting for, and see no problem with (based on what's currently accepted, however I tend to disagree with it otherwise) Miss White America, The Anglo-College Fund, Ivory Magazine, White Entertainment TV, White History Month, The Nataional Association for the Advancement of Non-Colored People... etc, etc...

Wish this had been available when I was in school. My GF got several "Minority Only" scholarships, while I being a non-smoking, white male, with no children or comunicable diseases was told, "Eh, your parents can pay for you". Needless to say, I'm still paying off a ****load of student loans, because my parents couldn't pay my way... and what little time I had to work just barely covered my rent...

But I made it, that's all that matters, right?

I am a responsible college student that has payed for my truck and have all my college covered, no matter which route I take. And through all this should I be awarded with a scholarship? It appears to be no, since I haven't recieved a single thing.

i like it now they are gonna get called a bunch of racists, but who cares. why should blacks/hispanics or any other race get a scholarship because their not white? at my high school the rating is dropping greatly because they have to let more minorities in. my school used to be ranked #10 on the national ranking (10th best school in the nation) and now they started letting a bunch of minorities in and the rank went down to 80, and still dropping. these minorities need to just shut their mouths already. they have most of the school in houston. there not minorities anymore. black/mexican makes up damn near 75% of the population in houston. they can get ANYTHING they want, all they do is say "your racist" and they get anything.

im ranting again, ill shutup

I don't know, I'm kinda on the side of "two wrongs don't make a right", but I understand the point being made. Somehow I think the point will get lost in the "racist" propaganda machine. At least they made a few waves and people heard them.

Overall though I think big "white only" organizations pushes the divide wider rather than abondoning the idea of racial inequality.

I was going to call my group the NACCP: National Association for the Advancement of Caucasian People

Both sides need to realize that preferential treatment is not the answer to past inequalities by either side. The only solution is equal treatment now and a lot of time to let old wounds heal.

I would start by blaming the education reform that took place in Texas. You guys decided testing was more important than teaching.

If I may ask, why did your school "start letting a bunch of minorities in?" Is it a private school? Was some legislation passed that required more room for minorities?

I have to agree with Viper. I like that it was done just enough to make their point, make a few waves and get people thinking. I think I would have been just as uncomfortable with it had it been a "real" scholarship (like full tuition or something) as I am with the minority based scholarships that are out there.

But to be completely honest, I've always wondered what would happen if someone started the "United Caucasian College Fund" and used the UNCF as their defense for it.

it wasnt us that decided to test more, it was the board of education. voters had no say at all in making more and more testing. now its to the point where we dont even learn the material anymore, we only learn TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, the new testing we have to take) and the skills needed to take the test.

its not a private school. the only thing i know of that could have made a change was the change of principals. i dunno if anything else passed but the school is really turning to crap now.

Everybody talks about racial equality...yet there are minority only scholarships out there. They dont promote equality, and they come from the same people who cry for equality...

I dont get it really.

Vote them the heck out!

That's the problem. We're teaching our kids how to take tests instead of actual useful knowledge.

Do principals in Texas have that much authority? If it is a public school then school access should be based solely on location no? Principals in NY (with rare exceptions) do not have the authority to say who can and who can not attend.

I often wonder how the UNCF can be in exsistance. The US Supreme Court ruled that unless there is compelling govermental reason to favor on race over another there is no reason to favor a race. I remember one case (idon't remember the name)where they ruled that using affirmative action in awarding a construction contract by a government was unconstitutional, because minorities had been in the construction business long enough to no longer suffer from discrimination.

It seems the UNCF would suffer the same results if it were contested to the US Supreme Court. Anyone see the commercial for UNCF with the balck man sitting in the slums and the message is without the handout he is nothing. It seems to me that if he had a strong desire to be a teacher he would find a way to go to school or do more than sit in the slums and waste away.

Sirket--
what is your problem with tests? They have been used to measure performance for a long time. I understand you don't like them, but what would you use as a yardstick to determine if the standards are being met instead of a test?

I'm not speaking for him, but I think his problem is not with the test themselves but:

Schools do that. They teach the kids how to takes tests so that the shool can get an overall higher percent of passing students. If you are learning how to take the test but no the knowledge the test is questioning, how are tests supposed to mean anything.

Like it was said in this thread already. Racism will never go away because 1) it holds way to much power to not be abused by those seeking political powers and fulfilling their agendas, and 2) everyone must be treated equally which will never happen because people want special treatment.

It's a real shame.

I agree with you they say what they want if they dont get it its instantly raceism. my dad is a manager in a business where most the management is white and if they fire someone they usually get sued for racial discrimination( but usually win). its the same thing for afermitive action, with that wouldent it be calling them stupid beacuse they cant get in with out it, If so why do they support it.. i know last year there were like 10 african americans in my high school and now there are like 60 and my school is going to chit, thats not including the "wanna be gangstas" lol

thats all im going to say for now
